"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."-JFK
My first dream in life was to be an ambulance. No, not a paramedic... an AMBULANCE. No one ever told me this was not possible, so I walked around for years telling people about my goal. At some point, around age 7ish I learned somehow that this was not possible and was crushed. So, without a backup plan I simply decided to tell my teachers I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up to earn brownie points in school
.
Then around age 10 I went to an air show. There I talked with recruiters from the Air Force, NAVY and Army. I decided I was going to just join all three. Is that even possible? Who knows. The idea didn't last long. Since after that decision I asked a recruiter if I could join any of them without ever having to hold a gun and they said no... so there went that brilliant idea!
Around the same time I learned what the Peace Corps was. That is when my dream to join the Peace Corps was born. There were two main things standing in my way at the time. Mainly my age, since you have to be 18, and the fact that I was only in middle school and needed to get my Bachelors first.
Fast forward to 2006 and I have pretty well cured both of those problems. Obviously I am now over 18
and as of December I have my Bachelors. Hence, my journey to the Peace Corps has officially begun. I designed this website with the intent of keeping those who care up-to-date on my adventure with the Peace Corps from application to departure to service.
