Jody Burke hits the SUN

May 2008

After pleading "we have to stop cause I think I'm gonna puke" , Kelly Doody, a reporter and popular blogger for the Calgary Sun felt what a true MMA conditioning workout was like at the hands with Calgarys hottest MMA coach and personal trainer Jody Burke. "I wanted to show Kelly just how hard fighters train to be the best cross-trained athletes on the planet. She showed alot of heart but I still showed no mercy as she volunteered for the session. Having been on the National Swim team, I thought shed be ready for what I had to show her , but she quickly saw what was involved in training for a fight. Fighters are the most conditioned athletes of all sports and I had to show her what these fighters deserve for respect." Kelly was gracious enough to interview Jody and go through one of his tough MMA condtioning workouts, in exchange for a story in the Calgary Sun on Page 6. A long road for most fighters isn't just mastering the technical tools needed to dominate, but the conditioning involved to help them go the distance. http://blog.calsun.canoe.ca/sixinthecity/2008/05/14/don_t_fight_the_fighter

New fighter added to AFC stable

February 2008

A new fighter added to the AFC stable. Tyler Green, at the tender age of 17 and having no previous MMA training had been training with Jody Burke for merely 3 months when Jody felt he had a new star on his hands. " Quite unorthodox in fighting skills, Tyler has proven he has a strong heart and amazing training ethic." Joining the ranks of fellow "big hearted" fighters in AFC with the likes of Derik Tessier and most recently Ray "BAM BAM" Noel whose debut fight at TKO 30 in Montreals Bell Center grabbed alot of attention due to his tough skull and never quit attitude when battling Bob Landry.

Tyler Has quick hands, feet and can deliver a KO when pressured and possessing strength more likely seen with a light heavy weight fighter but weighing in at fight weight of 145lbs. With options open to fight for select Alberta fight promotions, Tyler will fight when the right moment comes.
