Where is Albella?
Albella is in the far north east of India, sandwiched between Nepal, Sikkim, Tibet, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, can be seen from Albella but Everest is hidden behind nearer peaks.
Though Albella is at 4500 feet, looking down on Kalimpong about 2 miles away, temperatures never fall below zero and it never gets snow – unlike Darjeeling at 6500 feet, a three-hour jeep ride away, where the winters (November to March) are much colder.
However, Albella does get very chilly and warm clothes are needed.
