What are the problems ?
Water is a problem but less so since Heshron built underground tanks holding 140,000 litres, funded by Christians in Cheltenham, UK.
During the monsoon season from May to September all the roof water is fed into these tanks.
In addition, Kalimpong is allowed some mains water, often an hour a day, pumped by the Government, when Heshron will activate his own pumps.
During the monsoon there is no shortage, so all the boys can shower and wash their clothes any time, but as soon as the monsoon is over all the big boys go to a nearby spring for washing and bathing.
The driest months are January to April when hotels in Darjeeling district will be on rations.
