About Amelia
Amelia was born on 10th june 2004 at 27+6 weeks gestation, she arrived 3 months early and suffered a very traumatic birth.
Six weeks later Amelia was diagnosed with cerebral palsy - spastic quadreplegia, psuedobulbar palsy which means she has no suck / swallow reflex and cannot talk.
Amelia has had many hospital admissions due to chest infections and in November '05 had to be ventilated in Bristol P.I.C.U, her mum was told she would not make it to christmas but she survived.
Amelia now has chronic lung disease & requires oxygen. She also suffers from scholosis of the spine, hearing difficulties and sight impairment and epilepsy. Amelia's mum was told Amelia would not live past her first birthday and when that date came and went she was then told Amelia would not make it to her second birthday, well she is now 3!!!!
Amelia is a very clever and determined little girl and this is probably what has kept her with us.
