The Clamperl Issue(Pertaining to 3rd generation only)
Clamperl
Clamperl, a Water type Pokemon
Sprites:
Normal/shiny

Clamperl is found in the waters near Sootopolis City in Pokemon Sapphire/Ruby/Emerald. You probably know that if you come to this page. What you probably don't know is how to evolve Clamperl. You might know that Clamperl evolves into Huntail and Gorebyss depending on what item you attach to it. You probably even know what item corresponds to each evolution--Deep Sea Tooth with Huntail and Deep Sea Scale with Gorebyss. But where are those items? Or if you have some idea--where is the
scanner?
The Scanner and the ship
I guess that you have always realized(or maybe not) that there was a ship near Dewford town. If you didn't, you can recognize it when the old man takes you from Dewford to Slateport City. First, you need TM Surf. You can get one after battling "your Dad" Norman. Wally's mother and father will automatically contact you about Surf. After Surf, you need Dive. Dive can be given to you by Steven. Find Steven's house(on the north west side of Mossdeep City) and defeat the Mossdeep (That little island with the space shuttle that does nothing) City Gym Leaders to use dive.
After you've done all of that, you're ready to go to the ship. Find a way to reach the other staircase that you see when you come in. The sailor that is there in the room with the staircase will ask you to get a
scanner, right? That's where you are most stuck at, I would guess.
Around him, I think there is a key to a room that was locked.(Check the trash cans) The key is somewhere in the ship, at least. Open that locked door(The locked door says something like "Storage"). There will be another key inside that opens one of those door on the bottom of the ship. You must have realized that there was a large part of a floor was locked. The key opens one of the doors on that floor. When you go in, something will sparkle. Go to that position and press "A". If that's not the key, exit and go in again. There must be another "something." Go to that position, and if you get the key, go and press all of the doors of that floor and see which one the key will let you in. Sometimes, there are 3 unknown objects. The key will actually tell you which door the key belongs to. After a while, you will reach a room with water in it. Use Surf and then dive in a dark spot. You will go underwater and after a while of searching underwater, you'll reach a room with an item. That's the
scanner!
Go Back to the sailor and he will tell you give it to Captain___(I don't remember his name). That captain is located in the port of Slateport City. Go there and he will ask you whether you want a Deep Sea Scale or a Deep Sea Tooth. Pick one and you're fine to go!
There's one more step though...
Gorebyss and Huntail
Gorebyss, the "Psychic" Water Type Clamperl evolution
Sprites:
Normal/Shiny

To finally get your Gorebyss or Huntail, you must trade it over with the corresponding item for it to evolve. Trade it and it'll evolve. You just need to get it back.
I have a Gorebyss at Level 5, so no training is needed. Yeah, and I breeded that one.
If you're not sure of getting which one...
Read one
Gorebyss or Huntail

Huntail, the "Dark" Water Type Clamperl evolution
Sprites:
Normal/Shiny

The major difference besides their looks is the moves they learn. Gorebyss learns Psychic moves while Huntail learns Dark moves. I prefered Gorebyss, because I like Psychic Pokemon, so decide for yourself. I'm not going to help you on that. Maybe I'll help you with another
scanner? If so, look below. That's for you, who love reading.
Background: (For everyone interested.)
No offense to you, but I need to tell you the backstory of this page...before
you come and tell me that I am unbelievably trite and boring. I have seen that many people have been linked to my webpage because they have been searching for how to get Clampearl and its evolutions. You'd expect that they would get an answer for the elite Pokemon websites before they got to me, right? You are wrong. Very wrong, in fact. This site came up about second in Google, MSN, and etc. That's not a good sign, isn't it?
So, I decided to make this page. I know that it's not original as other pages are, but people need the Internet for information, and I hope to help all Pokemon fans get the information they need.
That should be all I had to say. Yes, really.
