Fire Types
Fire types are elegant and many carry the strong Flamethrower move which makes Fire types feared among Bug, Grass, Steel and Ice types. Fire types usually have high Special attack and can learn a wide variety of moves. The only types Fire Pokemon are really concerned about are Ground and Water types. Although Fire Pokemon don't want to be hit by Earthquake(except for Charizard), Fire type moves are not "uneffective" against Ground types but at the same time, they are not effective against Ground types.

Exclusive to Pokemon LeafGreen, Magmar can be found on One Island on the mountain where Moltres is. Magmar is strong and can also learn strong moves.

Though Growlithe may not be so fast, it evolves into Arcanine (by a Fire Stone which can be bought at the Celadon City Department Store) which can learn Extremespeed. Extremespeed is very fast and always strikes first unless your opponent also uses a speedy move and has a higher speed stat. Growlithe can be found in the grassy area to the left of Lavendar Town and to the right of Celadon City. It most likely carries Roar so take that into consideration when you try to catch it!

Flareon is a fire type with high attack instead of high special attack. I would recommend giving it Shadow Ball and Quick Attack when you train. Flareon can be obtained by evolving Eevee found in the Celadon Mansion and using a Fire Stone on it.

Vulpix is a nice fire type that can be found in Pokemon LeafGreen/Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. It can be found on Mt. Pyre and the Mansion on Cinnabar Island. You can evolve it with a Fire stone into Ninetales,a fast Pokemon.
