Some New Stuff

2008-01-18

Recently we've been working on getting our set all together, trashing old songs and making way for new and better ones, so we haven't had much time to record in the past few weeks. We also started collaborating with Hannah Winsten as a part time vocalist, working on vocal harmonies and adding new dynamics to some songs. We recorded a new song with her and its up on the songs page, a vocal/piano duet, and we're working hard on getting our new songs up.

However we're trying something new with the recordings by using a metronome to record, and recording both the drums and vocals separately, which has turned out to be a challenging undertaking, as well as extremely time consuming. But however long it takes we'll have newly recorded demos up eventually, so stay tuned.

Also our next show is on the 22nd of February at the Saint. Talk to any of us if you want a ticket. Hope to see you there.

Lots of News

2008-12-16

Our never ending quest for audio fidelity rages on as we try the Tascam US-1641 mixer out in order to get better quality demos, all for your listening pleasure. It's a sixteen channel mixer that records in separate channels, so I can now mix all of our songs so they actually sound good, which lends me the new title of "audio engineer". Actually no it doesn't I'm just kidding. But they do sound a lot better, because we recorded the vocals in a separate room for less noise in the background, and just because we've been together longer so we play better together.

We're now on a mission to re-record everything that we have right now. However, we've found that we don't even remember some of the songs on the songs page, so don't be surprised if they disappear, or they turn into new songs, or they just sit there. We've got a bunch of new songs too, and due to the acquisition of all of our new gear they're gonna sound sick. So stay tuned for that, they'll be good.

We recorded As the Rain Flows, Lying in Love, Only Human, and Rosy Cheeks, so check out the songs page.

Supposedly we have a bunch of pictures now because people took them at the GSA concert a couple days ago, so we'll put them up as soon as we get them.

Also, we're playing a show at the Saint again on the 22nd of February. See ya there hopefully.

First Show (in retrospect)

2008-11-01

We were all really happy with the turnout at the show. Thanks to everyone who came to see us play, we really appreciate it and hope you had fun listening. Overall we did really well and we're looking forward to playing again somewhere soon.

We're probably gonna work on new stuff now, and play around with the songs that we didn't play at the show or just forgot about. Some new demos might be put up soon, so stay tuned folks.

Also, we might actually have some photos to put in our photos section now, but we're not really sure. I say that mostly because we saw some people with cameras at the show. If you have any pictures of us feel free to email them to us.

First Show

2008-10-16

True to our word, we're going to be playing our first show on November 1st at the Saint. You should probably go because its going to be awesome. Email us if you need a ticket or something. Yeah. Also we wrote like 5 more songs, but we're gonna wait to go to a studio to record them. More later.

What's Goin' Down

2008-09-21

Lately we haven't really been doing a lot in the area of recording demos and the like, we've been waiting to get some new equipment and stuff, although we did manage to re-record Lying in Love. However we have decided we are going to start playing shows, probably at local venues, hopefully get a studio lined up, and stuff like that. When we do get shows lined up, There will no doubt be a news post on the website, and there will be a Gig's section up here soon, showing were we've played and where we're going to play. So stay tuned folks, soon you'll be hearing Awkward Slants at a venue near you.

Those Songs (recorded)

2008-09-07

Five brand new songs coming at ya, we re-recorded Shot in the dark too, so that's six total. That brings our track list up to fifteen, which is pretty impressive since we've been together for two months to date. These really sound amazing too, and they're pretty different from what we've been doing. I guess we're discovering the nuances of our style, which leads to a warmer, more emotional sound. Take a listen to the new ones and see what you think.

Songlist: As the Rain Falls, Jack of All Trades, Lying in Love, No Time to Kill, Shot in the Dark, Sittin on the Fence

More Songs (unrecorded)

2008-09-01

We made a few more songs, that sound amazing, but we couldn't record them last practice because I forgot to bring the computer. They're gonna be recorded and up by the end of next week though. Stay tuned.

Four More Demos

2008-08-09

Insane Man, Laughin It Up, Fool In Love, and Rock and A Hard Place have all been re-recorded. They sound amazing, so check them out.

Two More Demos

2008-08-09

We recorded All In Your Head, a new song, and re-recorded Only Human, both with guitar parts and through the mixer. They're quite nice, take a listen. We're looking to get in a mondo practice sometime soon in, and re-record Insane Man, but it's such a damn hard song for all of us. More coming soon.

Now With 33% More Awesome!

2008-08-05

We have a new member of the band. His name is Nick Rudinski and he plays guitar. Not only that, but he is awesome just like us, so we've successfully boosted our awesome level to what seems off the charts now. We recorded two new songs with him, and we have to re-record all of the old ones. But that's good news, because we now have a six channel mixer for direct inputs of the vocals and instruments, and we have a condenser mic to record the drums. It means better quality for you and more fun for us. Also, the vocals are MUCH more clear than on the ones we recorded previously. We also redid Good Day, so check it out. Back with more soon.

Three New Songs

2008-07-23

We recorded three more songs recently, one of our favorites is Insane Man. It's kinda hard to hear everything that's going on during this song, because its really loud and we don't have good recording equipment, but it is by far the craziest that Me or Billy have ever played, and the craziest Ethan has ever sang. It's real cool, just give it a real thorough listen. We re-recorded Fool in Love too, we fixed the levels, and it sounds a lot better. More bass, more vocals.

Site is Up

2008-07-18

The site is now online. We put up this site so people could hear some of our stuff, get an idea of what we're like, get to know the band, you know. Just trying to spread the word. Check out our stuff and let us know if you like it.
