Rear fender, Left tank 1967 FLH
The outside are in finish primer-surfacer, and the insides have been painted.
The tanks and fenders in finish primer and guide coat, with the insides of the fenders painted and masked awaiting final sand and color application.
Saddlebags also needed to be striped and painted. Fibreglass can only be striped mechanicly. We sand and gently sand blast the edges where a sander won't go. Chemical striper will destroy the fibreglass, then the bags have to be thrown away.
These are the tanks and fenders painted and assembled. We use patterns I made from original paint sheetmetal to apply our two tones.
To avoid potential damage to fresh paint, we like to install the trim on the fenders. this also insures all the straightening has been properly done.
1967 is probably the prettiest Shovelhead model. It has a great two tone, the early dash cover, the cast iron oil pump, and the last year of the mouse trap.
