Thumbnails of 1957 Panhead FLH project Part 2: Refinish work
With all of the body work, primer work and fiting finished, it's time to make the job come together with paint. Before we seal the job, we wash with alcohol, this takes the static electricity from the job, this step actually greatly reduces dust and gets the surface clean. We then Seal the jobs for consistant color holdout, and adhesion, followed by color coat until full coverage is acheived, and in the case of all metallic colors, we apply two to three coats of clear. From primer to clearcoat, it is very important not to overapply product, burying rivets or accent lines, this is a common mistake. More is not better.
