DAY ONE: THURSDAY

After last year's half day romp through the halls of Anime Boston, I was excited to begin my first "real" con experience. I arrived in Boston by bus around 3PM Thursday afternoon, and, struggling with all my cosplay baggage, took the T to the Sheraton Hotel. Hot and tired, it was a relief to finally get there. As I walked through the door, I was immediately transported into the con atmosphere; all about the lobby, con goers were chatting enthusiastically as they pushed around various costume pieces. The woman who checked me in was very friendly, and was asking all about the con, and even gave me enough card keys for all of my [illegal] roommates. Heading upstairs, I found my room, which was bigger than I expected, and very clean. Although we got stuck with only one bed, after seeing some doubles across the hall, I think we ended up with more space as a result. Plus, as the hotel room bitch for the con, I knew I had a spot on the bed every night, and I immediately checked it out - very comfy. And great for jumping. After that silliness, I took some time to unpack and organize all my supplies for the weekend. Since the rest of my roommates weren't getting in until 9 or 10, I wanted to indulge in being able to get settled by myself before the pack arrived. I then headed downstairs to pick up my pre-reg badge. I figured it would be a pretty quick thing to do, since I figured most people wouldn't be getting there until Friday morning, but the line was huge! Luckily, it moved faster than it looked like it was going to, and I had my badge after about a 45 minute wait. By then it was almost 6 PM, so I headed to the Hynes entrance to meet up with some cosplay.com peeps for dinner. The bunch of us wandered around town a bit looking for a place to eat before settling on the Prudential Center food court. We chatted over sandwiches and ice cream before splitting up to deal with our rooms and prepare for the upcoming weekend. I headed back upstairs and switched on the Red Sox game while putting some finishing touches on my costumes. I spent about an hour and a half detangling all my wigs, then I pulled out the good 'ol ironing board and set to work banishing all the wrinkles that the suitcase had put into my outfits. I had just finished the creases in my Sorceress Adel skirt when the cavalry arrived in the form of my roommates: Kitty, Kat, Liz, weisscrucifix, and Goki, with their Naruto, J-Rock, and Space Ghost costumes in tow. I had talked to Kitty a bunch of times on the phone before the con, but I hadn't met any of them until they arrived, so I was a bit nervous. However, they all seemed really cool and friendly, so I let out a big sigh of relief. We all chatted for a while as they unpacked, and then after watching some Conan O'Brien, we headed to bed so we could get an early start the next morning.
