Drew
Hello my name is Drew, I'm currently 13, and I am hoping to earn the highest rank in Boy Scouts: Eagle. My Boy Scout Eagle Project is a 5K race to benefit the clients of the Downing Treatment Site, of the Mental Health Center of Denver. For my Eagle project I am collecting donated Christmas presents and money to buy Christmas presents for people who were recently or currently are homeless that also suffer from persistent mental illness. Some of these folks have housing for the first time in a long time and are in need of some basic household items, whereas others are still homeless and need basic comfort items. All Profits will go to buying Christmas presents for the clients at the Downing Treatment Facility.
How can you help?
(1) You can register for the 5K race and bring donated, new gifts OR pay an entry fee that will go towards buying presents.
(2) You can volunteer to help at the 5k by e-mailing me at eagleswings5k@excite.com.
(3) If you are unable to run or walk the 5k and still want to help, you are welcome to donate money for presents by sending a check payable to Troop 1876 (c/o Drew Birch 6211 Zinnia St. Arvada CO 80004). Soon, I will have an on-line donation spot attached to the race on-line registration.
(4) If you are a company and want to donate goods, PLEASE e-mail me!
I just added a link for my troop (Troop 1876 Colorado Mountaineers) and for the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD). Check 'em out! Soon I will be adding information about the challenges of being homeless in Denver--especially as winter approaches.
Here's some of the troop at Dinosaur while we are backpacking. I'm the smiley one in front with the blue cap! (From left: Eagle, Dirt Boy, Dr. Eric, ME, Patsy and Not Princess)
I also humbly serve as the Denver Area's Order of the Arrow Lodge Chief. We are a youth-led service organization dedicated to camp promotions and are the brotherhood of cheerful service. Check us out at the "OA" tab.
