    Their Role in 'Van Helsing'
    What is truly fascinating about the 'Van Helsing' brides, is that they do not NEED to use seduction to capture their prey. Aleera, Verona, and Marishka each have something unique that makes them dangerous. Aleera is insane, Verona can seem sweet and trusting, and Marishka tends to play with her food. Being beautiful isn't their only weapon. Though many people may not realize this, the Brides have an extremely important part in 'Van Helsing'. Actually, 'Van Helsing' may have not ever been made if writer Stephen Sommers hadn't started thinking about the brides. In the book 'Making of the Legend', Sommers says that he could not think of a storyline until he started thinking about Dracula and his brides.
    " What would a man do locked up in a castle with three gorgeous women for four hundred years? I mean, in his spare time. Exactly. But vampires are the undead, so I figure their offspring, spawn, whatever, would be born dead. So what would Dracula do when, inevitably, his three brides start henpecking him to fix the situation? He would search for one of the of the world's premier scientists, one obsessed with reanimation, one with dubious moral character and maybe a God complex." (quoted from 'Making of the Legend')

    Brides of Dracula
    As beautiful as they are lethal, Aleera, Verona, and Marishka are Dracula's bloodthirsty brides. Bound by fate and seduced by Dracula's enigmatic power, they'll stop at nothing to help their master in his plan to subvert human civilization and to rule over a world of havoc, fear, and darkness.

    Verona
    The oldest and most worldly of the brides, Verona has fought for centuries to rid the world of all those who stand in the way of Dracula's sinister plan. As beautiful as she is deadly, the bloodthirsty Verona is Dracula's second in command both on the ground and in the sky.

    Marishka
    A devishly clever vixen who uses her beauty against all those foolish enough to challenge her, Marishka is the bride who should never be underestimated. Notorious for playing with her food before eating it, Marishka has made countless Transylvanian villagers wish for death long before it arrives.

    Aleera
    Insanely jealous of anyone who would dare compete for her master's affections, Aleera is the youngest and deadliest of Dracula's three brides. Obsessed with her merciless pursuit of Princess Anna, Aleera will stop at nothing to bring the Valerious bloodline to an end.
