Fading Fire Version 2.0--Identity
Updates + Ramblings

Semptember 7-- Sorry I haven't been updating this thing lately...my life has gotten very hectic what with school starting TOMORROW! and other stuff like going to the Natural History Museum in NY....
Okay. I am now getting on topic. Prepare yourselves, ladies and gents, for an extremely long rant about how the government is handling Hurricane Katrina.
First off: When Hurricane Katrina passed over New Orleans like a week ago, everybody thought that NO had been incredibly lucky. Everybody was okay, the levees hadn't broken, yada, yada, yada. And then on Monday? Tuesday? the levees did break, and NO got completely flooded. Which was a disaster. And a lot--a LOT of people died. ; _ ;
So now we take a look at the friggin' media. Who handled things very, very , VERY badly.
First off, people are saying, "Oh, look, it was all black people who died, that must mean it's racial discrimination, yada yada yada." Oh. I see. So Hurricane Katrina has racial issues ?! No, actually, I DON'T THINK SO. The reason more blacks died and/or got in trouble than whites is that blacks lived in the area that the levees flooded worst! The fact that more of them died is not because the hurricane is a racist! Okay?!
And then there was this interview with this guy. "I hear your wife died in the flood, how do you feel about that?" asks the reporter. Well, I can just picture myself up there, screaming at the friggin' reporter, "Oh, yeah, it was a bit of a shock, but having a freaking microphone shoved up my face makes me feel SO MUCH BETTER!"
There are also, of course, stupid idiotic freaking boneheads that are saying, "Hey! You won't let us have enough gas to get out of NO! The prices are too high!" Good grief. These people were also the people, I will remind you, who said that we were depending too much on foreign oil, AND that they don't want us to have oil refineries in "their back yard"! Good god, people! YOU DON'T. PAY. FRIGGIN'. ATTENTION.
What pisses me off the most though is the way that the government is reacting to this.
You know that special bit of the army that's specially trained to rescue people from disasters and used to be really good at it, but then Bush (graargh, we hatesss him my preciousss) put a guy that was fired from a horse association in charge of it?! Well, under the old head, they would have mobilized and got there as fast as humanely possible. But this guy that got FIRED from the ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION didn't do anything about it until a couple of days afterwards. Why? Because, he said, he read a newspaper with the headline "NEW ORLEANS DODGES BULLET" and so he knew everything was all right. Well, Wonkette.com scanned like ten thousand newspapers, and NONE OF THEM said "NEW ORLEANS DODGES BULLET". Not a single one. Which means the guy was lying or he has terrible eyesight.
OH. MY. FRIGGIN'. GOD.
If you disagree with me you can put up something in the Guestbook. But don't bite my head off. We can do this rationally, like human beings, and not start tearing people apart.
With much hope for the rebuilding of New Orleans, Fading.

August 29-- So... the Fictiopress thingy didn't work out. *sighs* It wouldn't let me upload the complete story. *sighs again* Anyway--if you clicky on the "Story" link now , your computer will download the full version of ze story! Yay!

August 27-- Update! I'll do the linky to Fictionpress tomorrow. See, I created a new account there at 4:30 P.M. on the 24th. SO, because Fictionpress likes to be annoyingly accurate, that means I'll have to wait until 4:30 today to post something there. Not worth it. The link'll be up tomorrow instead.
Oh, and I'm going to start putting pics I drew on AppleWorks 6 on the Stuffings section. So you can all see my bee-you-tee-full artwork.

August 26-- The Profile section is up. Go there and read about yours truely!
Only a day until I go onto Fictionpress. So impatient...

August 25-- Soooo-- how d'you likey the new site design? Personally, I'm quite happy with it. It took a lot of coding to do, but what the hey, it's spiffeh. I think it fits with the theme a bit better.
The site is going to be rather patchwork for the next few days, until I make it so all the new links actually go to a complete page rather than something that just says "Coming Soon". Reh. Hopefully, the new design'll be completely launched by September 1.

Anyhoo, in case you didn't notice, on the 27 the "story" link is going to go to my updated story at Fictionpress.com. Yay. I'll find some other use for the terminally empty page that the story will leave behind. Ah well. At least I don't have to type in all those < p > tags anymore. Hehehe.
