Mission Statement

FAMILY CARE SENEGAL

One of the aims of our project is to intervene on the behalf of the poor, as a liaison, bridging the gap between the need, and the ones who can help financially. Our goal is to make it easier for those suffering, by extending our lives, and influencing others in the community that they too can give of their surplus, thus providing a joint effort to alleviate some of the poverty the poor are faced with.

Family Care Senegal is establishing goals as well to pass on training and a Christian sample, that of giving a helping hand and a listening ear to those in need. Our aim is reaching others with God’s love through music to inspire hearts, animation to lift the spirit and informative publications that change lives.

Food for the Needy!

Overview of 9 Years in Senegal!

OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECTS OF FAMILY CARE SENEGAL FROM 1999 TO 2007

1999 to 2004: We were able to develop and reopen the Daara of Malika a home for children with 64 beds, and a primary school for 220 children that come from very destitute backgrounds. It has professional training in carpentry for 25 older boys. Family Care found the funding and contacted many donors enabling them to build bathrooms and paint all the buildings, as well as build a windmill and 6 classrooms, as well as a solar system, which by itself was worth 77,000 euros. We were able to equip the Daara with a TV, a video player, some computers, a washing machine, a freezer and a refrigerator, and deliver regularly large quantities of food, medicine, and clothes. During 2000-2004 we organized many excursions, as well as 2 summer camps for 100’s of children of the Daara, and of the local children from Malika and some from the city garbage dump.

2002-2004: Developed, found funds, and distributed food and cleaning products to 2 local institutions. The Foyer of Fass, that helps young girls from the villages, and the Tolbiac Street School which specializes in teaching basic education to poor children from shanties.

2002: Visited Ziguinchor, the local schools and colleges, and homes of the parents of victims of the “Djoola” a boat that sunk with 1,800 people on board.

1999-2005: Did many musical programs for charities with our singers “Crescendo Trio”. We also did entertainment in poor areas and schools with “La Ribambelle” our group of clowns and puppeteers.

2004-2007: Housed volunteer workers who came from France and helped them to find the materials and transport they needed to build an all-purpose building in a village in Casamance; and to develop centers for young people in Ziguinchor. The purpose is to encourage young people to stay in their village and region.

2000-2007: Initiated aid programs with food, and cleaning products for 12 institutions, that are helping children locally. The Daara of Malika (as mentioned), Village Pilote and l’Empire des Enfants who specialize in picking up children from the street and joining them again with their families. L’Abri and Handisable take care of handicapped children. L’Ecole Estel teaches mentally challenged young people. La Pouponniere and SOS Village care for babies and orphans, Le Bon Pasteur for single moms. La Mission Bethanie and Espoir des Enfants open their doors to the street children.

During these last 7 ½ years, we’ve been able to distribute: - 20 tons of fish, -10 tons of rice, - 2 tons of sugar, -1.5 tons of cooking oil, - 4 tons of milk powder, - 7 tons of milk products, - 4 tons of cookies, - 5 tons of canned food, - 5 tons of cleaning products.

Our goal is to continue to do our work in Senegal to help those who are destitute. Thank you for your help, which makes our work possible, we need you! God Bless you!

The End of 9 years in Senegal! We love you!--Crystal and Abi

Adious Senegal!

After almost 9 years of being in Senegal we wanted to let you know that we will be moving on! We love the people, the work, and the sunny climate Senegal greets us with daily. But at this time for various reasons, some being medical we will have to leave this lovely land. Most probably we'll come back from time to time to visit the wonderful people we met during our time in Senegal. We're going to other places, with other faces to help in whatever way we deem needful. Senegal has been an excellent learning experience and taught us lots of life's lessons on patience and long-suffering, and we will take these valuable lessons with us. With teary eyes we bid you farewell for now...and as the quote that a wise man once told: "They that love God shall never meet for the last time!" We'll keep you posted on our new adventures and endeavours. Please do stay in touch via our e-mail which will stay the same fcsen@yahoo.com for collective messages. Jean Marc's new e-mail is jean-marc.mignot@diefamily.org  Abi's is abifr@yahoo.com, and Crystal's is cryssy777@gmail.com

Lots of love and prayers go to you and your families, it's been a pleasure knowing you.

P.S. Our team members are in various locations, Abi's in Philippines helping to organize a fruitful Medical Project, working with professional doctors. Crystal is at a border-base Tex/Mex hosting incoming missionaries, and will be involved with young people in a Performing Arts Academy. Jean Marc, Sabine, and Coco are in Switzerland helping with Missionary/Humanitarian needs on a large scale. Please do contact us from time to time we'd love to hear from you.

Lots of Love, God Bless you--Family Care Senegal team, Jean Marc, Sabine, Crystal, Abi, and Coco
