Tsunade is one of the Densetsu no Sannin (Legendary
Three Ninja) of Konoha under the supervision of Sandaime Hokage (Third
Fireshadow). She both excels in fighting and supporting.
After
Sandaime's death, Jiraiya was asked to be the next Hokage, but he declined.
He told the officials that he would find Tsunade because she's more suitable
on being the Godaime Hokage. Jiraiya and Naruto went to different villages
to find Tsunade. However, Orochimaru together with Kabuto asked Tsunade to
heals his arms and the payment will be the resurrection of Tsunade's brother
and boyfriend, he gave Tsunade one week to reply and he disappears.
When the Jiraiya and Naruto finally found her, Jiraiya asked her to be the
Hokage and lead Konoha. She declined and said being a Hokage is nonsense.
These words fired up Naruto and challenges her to a fight. After being
defeated, Naruto tried to use the Rasengan, but he didn't succeed. Tsunade
said that if he could master the ninjutsu, he would respect Naruto and gave
him back his wallet and her necklace. Naruto didn't want the necklace, but
he accepted when Jiraiya said that it belonged to the Shodai and it can buy
two mountains.
After the
fight, Naruto was determined to master the Rasengan, however Shizune said
that the necklace is cursed and it was called the Necklace of Death because
the necklace doesn't want any owner but Tsunade, whoever wears that necklace
aside from her will eventually die the next day. Additionally, she told
Naruto Tsunade's past.
On the 10th
birthday of her younger brother, Nawaki, she gave him a necklace which she
inherited from the Shodai Hokage (First Fireshadow), his grandfather. Then
his brother told her that he wanted to be the next Hokage so that he could
protect the people who resides in Konoha. The day after she gave the
necklace, his brother was killed. Because the death of her brother, she
suggested on having one medical ninja in a group so that the percentage of
success on mission will increase. Sandaime agreed, however, he said that
they don't have much time to train medical ninjas. She felt so down, then a
guy stood up and agreed on her suggestions. After the meeting, Tsunade
thanked him and he told her that what she said is true. He introduced
himself as Dan. his younger sister also died during the war so the two of
them felt the same. She constantly fell in love with him, and he told her
that he wanted to be a Hokage to protect Konoha, upon hearing this, she gave
her necklace to Dan. The next morning, they have mission, Dan was mortally
wounded and she tries her best on healing his wounds, but she couldn't make
it. She saw her bloody hands and screamed. She started to fear blood from
that time. After that event she left Konoha with Shizune.
In the end of one
week, Tsunade replied to Orochimaru and her reply is a fight. During the
fight Tsunade was shocked because of Kabuto's blood and she was protected by
Naruto. Upon seeing Naruto's determination, she respected him. When he
finally defeated Kabuto, Naruto is unconscious and his breathing is rapidly
slowing down. Tsunade healed him and when she was successful she gave him
her necklace because he had won the deal. She accepted the job of being a
Hokage and said that his Dan and Nawaki's dream has been inherited by
Naruto.
