Leaving-Town Review

Site Name - 9/10

When I first saw your site, my sister said that she didn't like the name Leaving-Town. I, however, disagree. The name is memorable and makes me think "vintage" or of a pretty song. The dash is a nice accent in my opinion, though others would say that it's hard to remember to include the dash.

Layout - 18/20

I have to tell you, the only color scheme I like more than this one is your review site. This one is very calm, and even without the header image I think of fairies with this. I love how it's a deep sea green instead of just green. The font used for your site title is perfect and as you said (I believe in your blog) it's better that you gave your site a motto instead of putting "a blog/graphics site" or that sort of deal. That doesn't generally take away from a layout, but it's also pretty obvious after you just click a couple of links, so it's a little bit extra. Everything is extremely well organized; I like how I don't have to scroll to the right to see anything, your layout isn't too wide and neither are the specific columns. It's also good how you change your linkback button to go with the layout depending on what it is at the time. One thing is, in the header image it's a little bit hard to tell what they are until you pick out individual arms and legs. I'm glad you didn't put too many effects on this or it would have been impossible to tell. I particularly like the woman (fairy?) to the farthest left with her hands on her head. It makes me think of sorrow, which seems to go along with "leaving town" for some reason.

Content - 29/30

L-T.ORG
Your site history is interesting. I'm not quite sure what Xanga is but I've heard of it everywhere. Normally people get their start from freewebs or Piczo, so you're different. This also explains why Aethereality is your favorite site (which I read in your blog.)

I didn't visit your site in time to see the one "past layout" that you have posted. It doesn't look as compact as your visitor complained it to be. Actually it looks quite nice. I like the "make it real" part. However, you should probably post other layouts you've had. You have had more, haven't you? I came in time to see the one before your current one.

It's good that you have credits. Can you believe some sites don't? You spelled "Aethereality" wrong under "Textures," though.

Your linkbacks are fantastic. I like how you have one to match your current layout and then a scheme of different colors. It gives everyone a chance to post what they like.

VISITOR
I've been to Leaving-Town before, and I must say, you are stocked. After clicking on "Visitor" (I might add I like your placement of your navigation) I get a nicely-sized list of content. When there's too many different things it's a bore to look through and not everything gets updated all the time, so you seem to be good on that. I adore your animated avatars. Your choice of colors and animation is spot on with every single one. I love "I'm not crazy because I take the right pills every day" (makes me think of me!). Maybe it's just my sucky computer, but are some of these not animated? Should those go under the other section? Your non-animated avatars are just as good. I love the third one on the first row, especially since Vertical Horizon is one of my favorite bands. I also like "the past is all that's gone". You do a great job on these. You're one of the few people that can do great avatars without too many effects.

With your enter signs, it's a little bit tedious to click on a thumbnail for each one, but you have so many, it's understandable. I must add most of them are worth the click-and-load time (they do take a time to load, but I'm willing to accept that my computer is slow).

I like all of your icon backgrounds. Like everything else on your site you seem to take a great care with these. I'm not an Iconator user myself, but why are these only for use on Iconator? Is there a reason for that?

Your blank buttons are beautiful, and also very useful. Some with text on them might be confusing, for example the one where you can see part of the word "Timeless". It may be hard to distinguish, say, the site name "HP Fan" from "Timeless" (bad example.)

Need I say anything about the brushes? They aren't as numerous as everything else, but still beautiful. My favorites are the second ones, "Chanson Moderne", and the fourth, "Little Lyrics". Good job on these.

I like most of your colour schemes too. You've already proven time upon time that your sense of colour is amazing. I used to find it hard to make a layout with only three colours, but you've taught me otherwise. My favorites are "Take a Look" and "Chase Your Shadow."

Your layouts are fascinating. At the top, it's a little unnecessary to say "learn to freaking code", though I see where you're coming from. Maybe you can say, "If you need to learn to code something like this, try here" and direct them somewhere else. I like Easter To Be and Summer Dream.

WEBMISS
The name Hannah is uncommon and easy to remember. (Not that you can help that even if it weren't, because you don't use an alias like me.) You should move the last sentence of the first paragraph to the next one. You have great grammar. The sentence as long and I think I'm funny should be as long as I think I'm funny. Your first sentence and last sentence in the fourth paragraph are both variations on "I think I have a good sense of humor" which isn't necessary. Only one would suffice. You don't need "I'm sure you don't care about my taste in music", because if they didn't, they would skim over that part anyway. I like Vertical Horizon and Matchbox 20, too (figured I'd throw that in there). I also love Harry Potter!

HOSTING AND REVIEWS
I'm not going to bother with this (especially since reviewing is a subsite) except to say I think it's great you offer these services. A lot of people are constantly looking for good hosts, and you seem to be one. I'm glad you also want to be friends with your hostees, because that's more important that having an impartial relationship. It's also great that you review - it's hard to find a good review site that is both honest and yet not deliberately rude.

Final Rating - 56/60

Your site is honestly great. You take time on all of your content. There are a couple of places I would correct your grammar, but I pointed them all out. Great job, Hannah!
