2002
Trip to Las Vegas With a Few Friends

A couple of weeks before the date December 28, 2002, my very good friends
(Tom and William) and myself had decided to go on a group trip to
celebrate the end of the 2002 year not only with a bang, but also with
possibly a few extra spending money to put in our pockets. =)
So with Tom's expert planning, research, and coordination, he helped book
us a moderately priced trip to spend three nights in the bright city life
of Las Vegas, Nevada (the town that never sleeps). Our group
consisted of: Tom, William, Roxanne, CC, Josephine, and me. So this
is how our trip went... I don't really remember the exact times, but
this is a rough approximation:
Day One - December 28, 2002:
2:00
pm... Departed Sacramento International Airport via Southwest
Airlines...
Destination: Las Vegas, Nevada.
5:00 pm... Arrive in Vegas. Take shuttle to car rental
agency. Request a minivan. Minivans all rented out.
Temporarily rented extra large van instead.
6:00 pm... Drive to our hotel in Stratosphere.
6:30 pm... Stuck in traffic on Vegas strip.
7:30 pm... Arrive in Stratosphere. Check in hotel. Drop
off luggage.
8:00 pm... Meet group downstairs for dinner.
9:00 pm... Go out and enjoy night life.
1:00 am... Get back to hotel. Shower. Get some shut-eye
for next day.
Day Two - December 29, 2002:
10:00
am... Wake up. Get ready for group.
10:15 am... Get wake-up call from Tom.
10:30 am... Meet group downstairs. Take extra large van to
Cesar's Palace for lunch.
11:00 am... Stuck in traffic on Vegas strip, again. >:(
11:30 am... Arrive in Cesar's Palace. Have problems parking in
Cesar's Palace structure. Seems our extra large van was just an inch
over the clearance. We force our way in but drive extremely slow to
make sure our roof doesn't scratch the top of the structure.
1:45 pm... Lunch at Cheesecake Factory for lunch.
3:00 pm... Step out Cesar's Palace. Destination: Paris
Casino.
5:00 pm... Do some gambling at tables. Up 50 bucks in
less than 20 minutes of play. Decided it was time to quit while I
was hot... haha!! =)
6:00 pm... All decided to go up Paris' Eiffel Tower to get a
grand view of Vegas.
6:30 pm... After enduring 30 minutes of freezing cold winds
without my jacket, we decided to call it quits and return to the warm
casino.
7:30 pm... Walked to M&M factory and Coca-Cola factory.
8:30 pm... Head to New York, New York to ride roller
coaster. What a rush!!
10:00 pm... One of group members not feeling well. Walk back
to Cesar's Palace to retrieve oversized van. Slowly drive back down
parking structure. During our last floor of structure, the top of
our van began scraping each section. At one point van got stuck and
we had to back up and find another route to our exit.
10:20 pm... Finally exit parking structure.
11:00 pm... Arrive back at hotel and call it a night...
Remaining members snuck out to gamble downstairs at the Stratosphere.
Day Three - December 30, 2002:
10:00
am... Trade in overweight van for a smaller minivan.
11:00 am... On our way to Hoover Dam! =)
12:00 pm... Stop by Jack-In-The-Box for lunch.
1:00 pm... Arrive at Hoover Dam. Take guided tour.
Watch informational video of Hoover Dam's history. Walk across
Hoover Dam.
5:00 pm... Leave Hoover Dam.
7:00 pm... Pick up Roxanne from hotel and head off for dinner.
11:00 pm... Back at hotel. Call it a night.
12:00 pm... Tom, Roxanne, and I go out to gamble once more.
Lost 60 bucks at craps, CRAP!! Done for the night, head back to
room.
Day Four - December 31, 2002 (final night):
11:00
am... Check out hotel.
12:00 pm... Head to Bellagio Casino.
2:00 pm... Last lunch.
3:00 pm... Watch water show at Bellagio.
4:00 pm... Return rental car. Head to airport.
4:30 pm... Say good-bye to Vegas. Destination: Home
sweet home.
Next year
will we do something like that again? Well, we'll see... I'll
keep you posted. =)
