StaffHeadmasterAlubs Dumbledore. Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Known for finding the 12 uses of dragons blood. Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, and founder of the Order of the Phoenix. He is believed to be the only character who You-Know-Who was afraid of. Dumbledore is a very unique character who is extremely intelligent. He is at a very old age, but has a young spirit. He has a tendency to trust those who are not likely to be trusted and give second chances to those who do not deserve them. Albus Dumbledore is also a very gifted wizard who believes that love is the defense against all evil.Teachers      Long-Term TeachersProfessor Minerva McGonagall. Transfiguration teacher. Head of Griffindor House. Taught at Hogwarts for well over twenty years. She is very well mannered and non-bias. She will take away Griffindor House points any time of the day. Follows rules constantly. McGonagall is an uptight woman. Has faith in the headmaster, fully, only offering advise if she strongly disagrees. Professor Severus Snape. Head of Slytherin House. Potions master. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in sixth year. In his early years, he was rather fond of the Dark Arts. Mortal enemies with James Potter. Became a Death Eater after leaving Hogwarts. When Voldemort was defeated, Snape left for Hogwarts and asked Dumbledore to forgive him and ask that he be a spy for him. Dumbledore accepts this offer and trusts Snape. He became and member of the Order of the Phoenix soon after Voldemort's return. Where Snape's real allegiance lies...? Professor Pomona Sprout. Head of Hufflepuff House. Herbology teacher. Skilled with handling various types of plants. Dangerous and venomus plants are her specialty. She works in the greenhouses where she teaches the students. Her plants are common ingredients for potions classes and also aid in the hospital wing. Professor Filius Flitwick. Head of Ravenclaw House. Charms teacher. Flitwick is mostly of human blood, but has a bit of goblin in him, so his stature is rather smaller than the average human. A very energetic little man with a high-pitched voice that makes it seem as if he squeaks when speaking. Professor Binns. History of Magic teacher. Ghost. Is said to have died in a fire in the Hogwarts staff room and woke up the next morning, going straight back to teaching, not realizing he was in fact dead. He tends to drone on and on and does not care is someone does not understand or has a question. He is very keen on facts and does not dwell on myth or legend. Professor Sibyll Trelawney. Divination teacher. Great-great-granddaughter of the most gifted Seer, Cassandra Trelawney. She is, however, a very poor Seer. Made the prophecy of Harry Potter (or Neville Longbottom) and Lord Voldemort. She is a very spooky kind of woman who wears thick, round spectacles that magnify her eyes three times their normal size. She believes that she knows everything that is happening, but only reveals the things that matter--such as death, destruction and pain--to her students. Professor Sinistra. Astronomy teacher. Personality: unknown. Appearence: unknown. Professor Vector. Arithmancy teacher. Personality: unknown. Appearence: unknown.       Short-Term Teachers Professor Quirrell. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, first year. Pretended to be a paranoied coward who had journied all over the world. Really, he met Lord Voldemort and joined him. His sacrifice was of letting Voldemort into his body to re cooperate and drink unicorn blood to keep him alive. When he passed the obsticles to find the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter destroyed him and Voldemort fled his body. Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, second year. A very famous man to the standards of woman around the wizarding world. In his books, he was said to have defeated many foes and evil witches and wizards from all over the world. He was a fraud and tried to pack up and leave when he was asked to find and enter the Chamber of Secrets to defeat the monster within it. Harry Potter and Ron Weasley were nearly subjected to his memory curse and would have lost their memories if Ron's wand had not backfired. He tragically lost his mind and was send to St. Mungo's. He now has a permanent home at the hospital and still cannot remember himself. Prefessor Remus Lupin. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, third year. He is a werewolf, bitten in his younger years by Fenrir Greyback. A member of the Order of the Phoenix--a spy on the werewolf pack loyal to Voldemort. In his school years, he was friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. He was a prefect and a very good student but could not find it possible for his influence to rub off on his friends. Dumbledore had the Whomping Willow planted as to keep safe the passageway to the Shrieking Shack. This is the place which Lupin transformed on a full moon so he would not be a danger to the other students. His closest friends made themselves Animgi to be with him while he was transformed, because werewolves do not attack animals. He is a fun teacher who enjoys teaching the students about dark creatures and is also a very physical teacher--meaning he makes them use wands, not quills. After Sirius Black was found, Severus Snape 'let slip' that Lupin was a werewolf and he resigned his post. Professor Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, fourth year. He was an ex-Auror, responsible for putting a number of Death Eaters in Azkaban. He was asked by Dumbledore to teach at Hogwarts in the summer of third year. However, he was kidnapped by Burty Crouch, Jr. Crouch made Polyjuice Potion and substituted for Mad-Eye the whole year, working under Voldemorts orders to advise Harry Potter any way he possibly could to ensure he won the Tri-Wizard Tournament. He was found out at the very end of the year, then forced to confess his doings with vertaserum, but before he could announce anything to the Ministry of Magic, the Dementor's Kiss was performed on him. Professor Doloras Umbridge. Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, fifth year. Special Assistant to the Minster of Magic. Appointed High Inquisitor of Hogwarts School. Appointed Headmistress for a few months while Dumbledore had disappeared. She was a very poor teacher, making the students in her class read from their textbook and answer questions on each chapter for classwork and homework. A league of students who called themselves the D.A. (Dumbledore's Army), joined against Umbridge even though it was illegal to Hogwarts new standards (set by herself). After capturing their leader, Harry Potter, she was led into the Forbidden Forest and attacked by a herd of centaurs. Dumbledore rescued her and she was sent to the hospital wing to recover. Because of the events that unfolded at the Ministry that year, Voldemort was known to have returned and the Ministry saw no need to interfere at Hogwarts any longer. Professor Horace Slughorn. Potions master, sixth year. Substitute Head House of Slytherin in Professor Snape's absence. He taught Potions at Hogwarts nearly fourty years previously. Slughorn had a tendency to make the best of the students he saw fit to be in the Slug Club--a group of impressive students who have certain abilities and strengths that make them better than other students. He played off his older pupils to receive gifts such as free tickets to Quidditch games from a past student who became Quidditch captain of a famous team. He was rather intrigued to teach at Hogwarts again, after retirement, to gain Harry Potter's allegiance. He later found out that Potter was not an attention-seeking young man, and became fond of Hermione Granger. After what happened to Dumbledore, it is unknown that if Hogwarts is still open he will teach in the seventh year. Professor Wilhemina Grubbly-Plank. Substitute Care of Magical Creatures teacher for Rubeus Hagrid. Most of the fifth year, she substitutes for Hagrid while he is away on his mission for the Order of the Pheonix. She is carefully evaluated by Umbridge and concluded that she, in fact, is a better teacher than Hagrid. She smokes a pipe and usually wears a smug expression like she does not want to waste any time. Firenze. Substitute and part-time Divination teacher. He is a centaur. Replaces Professor Trelawney in the fifth year. When accepting to teach at Hogwarts, he was banished from the Forbidden Forest by his herd. He does not expect much of his students and focuses mostly on the stars. He teaches the lower grades of Divination in the sixth year, because he shares his post with Trelawney. Many of the female students like Firenze better. GameskeeperRubeus Hagrid. Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. Care of Magical Creatures teacher. He is a half-giant. His mother ran away from his father after he was born. His father died shortly before he came to Hogwarts. He was expelled from Hogwarts under the impression that he set loose a giant spider that was from the Chamber of Secrets that killed a girl. This was, in fact, a wrong conclusion, but his wand was broken and he remained gamekeeper at Hogwarts since. He owns a dog named Fang and raised the only tame herd of Thresals in Britian. He cares for all magical creatures that the castle owns. He is great friends with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. In their fourth year, he meets another half-giant named Madam Maxine of Buexbatons School in France. They were sent on a mission to recruit the giants to their side, but failed. Hagrid found his brother, however, and kept him in the Forbidden Forest all fifth year. He was nearly sacked by Umbridge that year, as well, because she despised half-breeds.CaretakerMr. Argus Filtch. Caretaker of Hogwarts. Filtch is a Squib. Treats students harshly and thinks it better if there were none in the castle. He owns a cat named Mrs. Norris who searches the corridors at night. If she sees any movement, she will run to get Filtch. He is usually the person who confiscates the items that he finds as dangerous from students. His office is small and full of file cabinets where reports are kept of students, their deeds and their punishments. There are also file cabinets for the confiscated items he retrieves.LibrarianMadam Irma Pince. Hogwarts Librarian. She is a very suspicious woman who roams the library to make sure everyone is fallowing the rules. She places spells on her books so that they are returned on time. She is thin and has vulture-like features. May have an attraction to Argus Filtch, but remains unknown.OtherMadam Poppy Pomfrey. School nurse. She is stern, but patient with the students and their injuries. She is very skilled with potions, herbs and healing. Resides in the hospital wing.Madam Rolanda Hooch. Flying lessons Instructor. Quidditch coach and referee. She has short, gray hair and yellow eyes. She expects the first years she teaches to know what they're doing. When refereeing Quidditch games, she often misses penalties and fouls that happen because she is yelling at someone else. |
