Cinderella

"How can you know who you are till you know what you want, which you don't? So then which do you pick?"

Cinderella is a dreamer, and there's nothing wrong with that. Before long though she has an opportunity to advance in the world, and she comes up very indecisive. Even though the world she knows is so disagreeable, she still has a fear of the unknown.

It's not giving anything away to say that Cinderella's lot does change. From her unique perspective of knowing both sides of life, she is able to show unexpected strength and supportiveness.

Musically:

In the prologue, Cinderella performs Birds in the Sky and Mother Said Be Good. Both are much smaller than her solo turn after escaping from being On the Steps of the Palace. While she only pipes up occasionally in Your Fault, she does take on much of the burden in No One is Alone. Hers is also the last voice we hear, as it is the essence of the recurring cry of "I Wish."

Playing Cinderella:

In the 2002 Broadway production, the actor who played Cinderella also voiced the character's mother. This is an option if the actor can create two singing voices.
