The Baker's Wife

"Let the moment go. Don't forget it for a moment though."

On the surface, the baker's wife appears happy. She lives content in her meagre life with the baker, but when an opportunity sends her husband into the woods, she can't resist but to follow him. There her ambition grows. She is exposed to excitement and luxury, and a more capable version of her husband. She let's nothing get in the way of what she wants.

Eventually, the baker finds happiness, but his wife cannot stay content for long. She hides it well, and she never does anything evil, but what she does do does not go unpunished.

Musically:

The baker's wife has a small song (Maybe They're Magic) followed by a half share with Cinderella in A Very Nice Prince, which is more like a poem than a song. Her highlights are It Takes Two, her duet with her husband, and Moments in the Woods. The latter is preceeded by Any Moment, in which she makes a slight contribution.

In the finale, the baker's wife does a small reprise of No One Is Alone.
