What is a Guild?
What is a guild? That's one of the few questions newbies ask. You might be one of them. So, what is a guild? It's a group of people that have one thing in common; an intrest in something. These intrests could be anything, from Harry Potter to the movie Zathura. Really, it's just a group of people trying to get other people to talk with and share what they think about their intrest.

Joining A Guild
First thing is first; DON'T MAKE YOUR OWN GUILD UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN WITH A GUILD FOR A FEW MONTHS! I know that the title of this guide is Owning a Guild, but you need to know stuff about how to own it and the whole shi-bang!
Now that we have that over with, start looking for a guild. How? You may ask. Go to the Boards, (if you have permission,) and make a board post saying; I'm Guildless. Or something along the lines of that. People will come and advertise their guilds. If they include a guild link, click that, or click the person's username and find their guild.
What if I don't have permission, and I can't get permission? Well, then this is what you do. First, go up to the address bar, (the bar at the top where you put websites in,) and type in www.neopets.com/guilds. Or, since you're so lazy, (just kidding,) click HERE Then, browse around the guild neighborhoods.

Making a Guild
Time to make your own guild! Now, go back to the link I put above, (the one to browse guilds.) At the top, you'll see a couple of things; Teleport, Create New, Help, Search, & Faerie Quests. Click the Create New. Now, all you have to do is enter in the info.
What do I do now? Now that you entered the info, it's time to get a guild layout. You can make your own with our Guild Layout Tutorial, or you could use one from our site or another site. Copy the code and go to your guild. Near the bottom, you'll see a link, on the side bar FOR THE GUILD, that says Guild Layout. Click that and then click Modify Guild Preferences. You'll see the Welcome Message. Put in the layout code and edit what you need to edit. You can also edit the logo by going back to the place where it says Modify Guild Prefrences, and all that, and then click Upload/Change Guild Logo. The logo you made, or saved to your computer, should be seen when you click BROWSE. When you see the logo, click it and then click Upload Guild Logo.

Advertising your Guild
Now you have to advertise your guild. Make a cool, flashy advertisement that states what you actually HAVE in your guild! Don't forget that contests that include neopoints are banned! Make sure the advertisement fits in the message poster. Once you do that, start posting your guild advertisement over all of the guild Message Board. Hopefully, you'll get members soon. Don't forget that you can invite people by click INVITE on the front page of your guild in the Options coloumn.
