Managing Your Time

Ok, everyone thinks they manage their time properly. Well, you probably don’t. Trust me, I’ve gone through this. (Seriously!) This is going to be part one of a two part guide! Enjoy!

On too long?
The fateful question: Have you been on the computer too long? Well, let’s analyze you first. (Hehe…..) Below are some questions that I want you to answer.

  1. Do you use chatspeak fluently away from the computer?
  2. Do chatspeak words run through your mind with every topic or answer you make?
  3. Do you write using chatspeak?
  4. Do you want to go home as fast as possible just to get on the computer?

If Yes was the majority of your answers, you’re in trouble. Five simple words of advice: Stay away from the computer! Well, not really. Manage your time….that’s the key.

What to do after school?
So, what to do after school? Go on the computer and waste your brains out when you have millions of other chores to do? NOPE!!
Ok, so you have chores to do and you have only six hours until bed (let’s pretend). You want to play on the computer, but you still have to clean the cat, feed the birds, wash the dog, and play the piano. Don’t forget homework! ACK!! What do you do? Manage your time.

Manage my time?
Yes, you heard me right. Manage your time. Ingrain that in your brain. Here’s how it works.
Okay, so you have six hours left. Take advantage of your brain and perform your tasks efficiently, yet quickly. Like my father always says, “Do it right the first time, so you won’t have to do it again.”
You know that feeding the birds and changing the cat’s litter box takes only 5-10 minutes. If you swiftly do those small chores—and you do them right—then you still have almost six hours to do things. If you go and wash the dog, that’ll take around 30 minutes, right? So, you have 5 hours and 30 minutes left. Then, it’s off to piano. You have to practice 45 minutes like you’re supposed, so do it! Play everything right and things will go quickly.
Oh no, you have theory and homework still, with only 4 hours remaining, excluding your shower and dinner! Easy answer: Multitask. Go to a large area of space and spread out your homework and theory. Begin with your homework, and, when you’re on a ‘break’, start on your theory. You’ll soon get done with both things easily.
