NEWSLETTER "...still WAITING!!....(Col...) SOME SCRIBBLE ABOUT THE ...PAST! HEAVEN IN THE HILLS: Twenty-nine of us enjoyed our time at Heaven in the Hills, and we all voted that we will go back again next year. The accommodation was excellent and very beautifully presented and comfortably ?swish?. We had all our gatherings and meals in The Shed, and Saturday lunch was had at King Ludwigs Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains, where a lot of fun, food and frivolity took place. We couldn?t go to Little Yabba Creek for our picnic on Sunday, as the weather was very unpredictable, so that was in The Shed too. We had to watch out for the cheeky birds, who at any given opportunity, were trying to steal our food. There were quite a few wallabies around as well, and the views of the bush and the valley below were fantastic. Jenny Nelson was the lucky recipient of the ?Karawa Perpetual Bad Taste Award? and she gets to keep it for a whole year. Onya Jen! COMING EVENTS: CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST: SUNDAY 2nd DECEMBER at the residence of Dana & Dean Nekker, 68 Berry St SHERWOOD. More shade will be available this time, and swimming is available under adult supervision. Starting time is 8 am and you will be required to B.Y.O. table, chair, plate bags and whatever you want to drink (excluding tea/coffee which will be supplied by Karawa) & an Item of Festive Food (non perishable) per person would be greatly appreciated for the Christmas Hampers (1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes this year), which will be raffled on the morning. Cost is same as last year at $8. adults, $3. children over 5 years. Please R.S.V.P. to Pascoes, on 3278 1508 or email: jnjpascoe@bigpond.com for catering purposes, by Monday 26th November with the numbers of adults, children and their ages for Santa to know who to supply a small gift to (Karawa to supply). FOUNDER?S DAY DINNER: The Dryden Residence is once again to be the venue for this traditional Pot Luck Dinner, on SATURDAY 23rd FEBRUARY 2008. Pat and Jim will need to be phoned or emailed in February to let them know who is coming and what you are bringing. AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR: Still no fixed date as yet, but still very much going to happen in about March 2008. Price for a group of 20 will be approx. $85. per person which is for a meal and show. Please let Yvonne Meggiorin know on 3849 4342 if intending to come. STATE COUNTRY MEETING: SUNDAY 13th APRIL 2008 to be held at Alexandra Hall, Cressbrook St. TOOGOOLAWAH. There will be a catered lunch and details will be issued at a later date. WORLD CONFERENCE: Tunisia is no longer the host country for the World Conference to be held next year. The new venue will be AUSTRIA in August 2008. More details as they come to hand. NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING: will be at Pascoes on 11.2.08. BOTTOM PAGE BITS: * JUDY LAVERTY is hale and hearty after her Op. at the Wesley Hospital on Monday night (19th Nov.) She says she is really lucky that her regular breast screen showed up a small lump which was removed very quickly. So as much as we females don?t enjoy having our mammograms, it shows that having one regularly can prevent major surgery. * PAT JENKINSON (a past member) is now out of hospital after an abscess on her liver was removed. Pat was a very sick lady for a long time, but is now on the mend. * KEITH HOEHNKE is now retired, and is teaching Pauline how to use a computer. * NOEL & MARGARET WOOD celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on the 9th November, 2007. |
