Safiya is beautiful bay mare who is the classic Arabian: elegant, breathtakingly beautiful and 
knit finely and delicately together, conformation-wise. She is a wonderfully-bred mare, her 
bloodlines including some of the top Arabian sires in the last sixty years. These immortal 
horses have bequeathed to Safiya beauty, elegance, great conformation, a sweet disposition 
and incomparable athletic ability. She is shown primarily in halter, to best show off that 
classic conformation, but she also dabs in Western Pleasure, to which she excels. 

She is the dam of Karnak’s Cuervo Gold, a dark buckskin Quarab stallion who is set to 
become head sire at Karnak one day. Safiya is thus already an accomplished broodmare, 
and I anticipate great things from her in the breeding shed in future years, for she is certainly 
going to produce more gorgeous, champion foals, whether they be purebred Arabians or 
Arabian crosses. 

Safiya’s name means “pure,” and while there is not a traditional back-story concerning her 
name, it seems to fit her, nevertheless, for “Safiya,” is resonant and musical, just like the mare, 
and she exudes a kind of pure grace—full of charm, elegance and a kind of heavenly air. Safiya 
is joining Mariasha, another of Karnak’s beautiful Arabian mares, as the two foundation mares 
of Karnak, and between these two mares, great things are guaranteed to happen in the breeding 
barn and show ring.

Personality-wise, Safiya is generally easygoing and very sweet. She loves kids, and when she’s 
not in the ring or carrying a foal, she enjoys a leisurely trail ride. She’s extremely sure-footed, 
and while she may look like the traditional delicate Arabian, she’s tough as nails and would do 
anything for her rider. Safiya has a giving heart, and she is a natural broodmare, given to being 
very maternal with her foals. A shining bay mare, she looks a lot like her sire, the legendary
Fame VF, and undoubtedly she will follow in her sire’s footsteps by becoming a huge success 
in the halter ring. Gorgeous Safiya is unparalleled, and a one-of-a-kind mare, and already a 
success in the breeding barn. She is going to do great things for Karnak, and will be a treasured, 
foundation mare for years and years to come.
