Hello, and welcome. I will use this home page to tell you a little about myself and my work.
About Me
I was born in Danville, Illinois on 17 December, 1991 (making me 18 years of age). I am, as expected, on of those, "I have been drawing ever since I knew how to hold a pencil the wrong way" artists. I spent most of my childhood in Tilton, a small town adjacent to Danville. Around the age of 9 years, my mother, sister, two little brothers and I moved to Catlin, Illinois. I have never traveled farther than Indiana. I was married to my mate and father of my only son, Ross Junior (born 13 January 2010), on August 8, 2009. We currently live in Danville, Illinois with our two dogs (Trixie, my family's Brindle Pit Bull, and my muxed-breed, Goldie, whom I've raised from a pup).
I began to take my art more seriously -- drawing from life as opposed to imagination -- no more than two years ago. With my knowledge gained from on-line tutorials and self-composed studies, I began to dedicate my time to both learn and teach techniques and resources. I would offer my critique services to various artists, as well as keeping myself open for the favor to be returned. I have aspirations to attend an art college (my sights are set on the Art Academy in Cinn., Ohio) and then move on to become an art teacher -- the perfect job for one who enjoys teaching as well as being taught.
About My Artwork
I am a traditional artist. Though slowly transitioning to include digital, I do not believe in having skills "handed" to you. Most digital programs hand artists skills that would take years to master -- months to learn -- for a traditional artist. It is this "extreme ease" that I disapprove of, though digital work itself mandates its own amount of practice.
I am also the "poor artist." With a new baby, different home, and two dogs I realize that hoity-toity art materials are a want, not a need, and that cheap materials (those I already have, Crayola, etc.) will suffice just as well with practice. I use commission provisions to buy materials as I need them. I draw many things from nature -- primarily wolves -- but I am willing to expand and draw different things for commissioners per their request. I have recently began to explore extreme realism and portraiture. Though I am still unsure about this area, I am willing to work with commissions in the category with photographic references.
