The Alaska State Fair in Palmer, Alaska (August 21-September 1, 2003)

We spent a day at the Alaska State Fair on August 27th with our friend Marge from the Nature Center.  The highlight of the fair is the giant vegtables.  The vegtables grow so large because they get almost continuous sunlight over the summer months.  In addition to the many animals, we enjoyed the lumberjack show, the extreme canine show, and the native dancers from the Alaska Native Heritage Center.  Judging from the people, the food and the events, there was no doubt that we were in Alaska!
