Felicity

Wrong-headed girl, whose
dazzling smile makes her
a daughter of Lords, heiress
of tart sherry and
manicured conversation.

But she is as
delicate and cruel as
her shoes, and I reply
furrowed, cowed,
convinced as she is that
what she says matters,
waiting for the sun
to warm the earth.
