Hello and welcome to mrdantownsend archives. Anything that has ever been posted on my site on the main page is located here. I did this to condense the main page a little bit, make it a bit more manageable.
It's getting bad now, I've went and called this one Storm Drain. God if anyone out there can help me with song names, I'd be forever grateful. However, musically this is the best song I've done yet I think, and you should check it out on the Music Page. I played around with the channels on this one, like switching the echoes into different channels everytime they hit. Creates a cool effect on headphones without being disorientating. Well, thats it. cya.
Thats right, mrdantownsend 7.0 rolls around the corner. I gave this version a more loud [and orange] feel than my last site. 6.0 had some good design ideas, they were just executed too, boring-ly. But its basically the same exact HTML with a new CSS Skin, so not much content has actually changed. But its new and its colorful and hope you like it.
And of course it's valid XHTML and CSS which you can check at the bottom of each page.
As you may have noticed, I have completely run out of names. This is a bit frightening to me that I would call a song this, but really, it is a good song. I finished it a few weeks ago and just forgot to upload it (mostly because of the lack of a name) but is quite worthy of a listen.
I just finished cleaning up the Photos section of the site. I took out a lot of photos that I didn't like, and didn't even know why they were on the site in the first place. This condensed it down to about 27 photos. Then I took away the separate sections of Natural and Industrial, because I wasn't really taking any industrial photos anymore.
I also added little watermarks in the bottom right of every photo. And I added three more photos that I took when I was on a trip to the Poconos. My friend Taylor told me what Macro was for, and I couldn't believe I'd gone so long without knowing this! And yeah, thats about it. cya.
I recently started to review the photos I took in both Prague and Amsterdam, and I found some really good ones. One photo that really stood out for me was the picture of every single person in a huge crowd staring up. Really strange. Also, some great pictures of Flowers, Trees, and Statues I got. You should Czech them out, because they're really good. Well, cya.
I just created this new song in FL Studios, great bass line with a cool delay/echo effect. Great for chilling out, especially on a rainy day. The solo section is very nice, and starts at around 1:30. I didn't think of the name actually, my friend Eric did. At least it's better than "Big Boots", musically and name-wise also. Well, thanks for listening and hope you like it.
I redesigned my website again, and I'm really happy how it came out. I thought since I am going to start designing websites for actual people, I thought I'd be less of a hypocrite by not having a dingy, plain looking website. Instead, I wanted a streamlined, more modern site. Although it does look brand new, It still uses almost identical code to my last site and it took me about four or five hours to build, and I used some techniques that I have never used before. Thanks for visiting!
This has to be the best song I've ever done. Don't judge it by it's name, it's just that I couldn't think of anything better. I used mixer effects on the keyboard to create the most awesome sounding wah-wah effect I've ever heard. And the bass line is awesome. I actually thought it up while I was grating cheese. Plus, this is the only song I've made that I truly enjoy listening to. Either way, it's definitely worth a listen.
Now with adblocker and spyware remover, this is the best as it gets. Well, not really, but I thought I'd make it sound as monumental as possible. If you haven't already noticed, it's really classy and awesome, and I like it alot, so that's good enough for me. Plus, it has little curly things in between each paragraph. You'll probably not need to refresh, because it uses the almost exact same HTML as my last site, but why not anyway?
On this one, I finally figured out how to use the mixer to put in VST effects, so I utilized them heavily. I also got alot of sound effects, and put some in the intro of the song. I tried to make the drums sound less like a cookie cutter, but they still need some work. Anyway, it is a pretty relaxing piece, easy listening as some might say.
I just added a few more pictures that I took over my February break. I went on a one day business trip with my dad to Connecticut. It was real boring, but at least I got some good photos.
Well, I finally took the dive and bought an iPod shuffle. I really like it alot and it's really small and works well. You can read my entire review on my iPod Shuffle Review Page. If you're interested in buying one yourself, it's a good review from someone who owns one.
I just finished putting the final touches on my new song, it's called Discovery. You can download it on the music page. I have to say that it's the best song I've done yet. It's mostly a piano solo, and the bass makes a great accompaniment. If you haven't listened to any of my songs, this one you should definitely listen to. By far my favorite so far. So hope you like it and hope you listen to it.
Finally mid-terms are over. My 9th period mid-term was today, and I'm finally finished. I won't have to study like that again until finals.
I took a few good pictures yesterday, I'll probably post them sometime, when I get around to it I guess. Well, hope you have a nice day.
Just made a new song yesterday, think it sounds pretty good. I put some quotes in the beginning, stretched them a little bit for effect.
Well, I should go now, because I have to study for my History exam, and I really should have done that yesterday, so see you later.
Well, not yet anyway, but they're creeping up soon. Actually they start on Friday. I don't plan to study much, because I remember well, but most of my teachers are making us do stupid twelve-page review packets by hand, and I don't really like that idea that much.
That basically ruins my entire weekend, because most of them are due Tuesday.
In other news, I changed up the photos page a little bit, not visually, but I changed the markup so when I change the background color of the page, I don't have to edit every thumbnail's border, I just edit the border.gif file to the color background I have. Pretty convenient. You'll probably want to refresh your browser so it doesn't look distorted.
And the stupid Freewebs hosting service is bugging out again, so that might make it a little more difficult to view the site. Should be fixed in a few hours though.
A new year, a new month, a new day, it's all changed since I last posted. I know I haven't in a while, so I have alot to cover. In summary, I went to Utah on a ski trip, make an awesome ski video, got a new dog, saw my brother, got a new bike, and made a new song. The song was a kind of spur of the moment, after-school kinda thing. It is on my Music page and is called 'Moon Yard Park'. It is the first song I've made in six months, and I think it is pretty good. Thanks and enjoy.
Yes folks, finally what you've all been waiting for, mrdantownsend 4.0. I must admit that I am very pleased with how it turned out and how it took me very little time to make. This website is a complete seperation between style and content so it can be easily re-done with simply a different stylesheet. I strongly recommend refreshing your browser or clearing your cache, otherwise, it may seem distorted.
Last night, I got the strange urge to revamp my whole website, which I successfully did. You might be thinking, "what are you stupid? It looks exactly the same!", but I'll explain. You see before, I was using a method of architecture known to some as pure evil, or to others as tables for layout.
Well, I knew I couldn't live with myself and say I had a respectable web page if I kept on doing this, so I decided last night to make the switch from tables to divs. It wasn't nearly as painful or annoying as I thought it would be (although it still was a little painful) to do this, and overall, I am happy that I got the same exact layout I had before. You may need to refresh your browser in order for the site to show up right.
That's right, I finally got around to validating my web pages, and I went from having over 200 errors to having 0. Although the 200+ errors were because I had the wrong doc type, I still fixed them. You can see the live proof with the links at the bottom of my page.
Well, not yet anyway, but I'm pretty excited. The famous thanksgiving day game between Wall and Manasquan is gonna be fun, and so is the bonfire tomorrow night. And who could forget the turkey? I'm excited this year especially, because we finally got our kitchen finished over the summer (last year we didn't have one so we went out to eat). It'll be nice to have a home cooked turkey, and no one cooks better than my mom.
Ah well, I just hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving, and wish you good luck eating as much turkey and gravy as you can.
Well, not really my first, but the first one I got on tape. Here's the link to the video. It's an OK ollie, not my best, but the only one I got on tape. I think the slow motion at the end is awesome, but that's just me.
In our US History class, we've been reviewing for the past two days, and our teacher told us our test tomorrow is going to be the hardest test of the year.
So, apparently I missed this news because I was absent Monday, so I just learned it today. Therefore, I wrote a Study Guide for the test with the help of my notes and textbook. That's two and a half hours of work, and frankly, I'm proud of it.
I have finally returned from my Trip and have seen much in six days. I went to th e Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, to Perouges, Lyon, and finally, to the Chateau de Bagnols. I did alot and took alot of pictures in such a short time, and I added fifteen to the Photos section of my site. Hope you check them out.
Yes folks, thats right, I packed all my stuff yesterday and I'm leaving for the airport at 6:37 PM EST, and the Flight leaves at 10:00 EST. That leaves me with six hours to try and sleep, and if I stay awake, a really long time to try and stay sane.
If you haven't noticed already, I put tooltips on all of the image thumbnails on the Photos and Rockbox page that explains each photo a little bit, for my own enjoyment and hopefully for yours.
f you're a little confused about the title, I'm going to France in a week from now, which I just confirmed yesterday. My dad's company is based in France, and the boss guy is having a party at his chateau, and since his company is paying for it, I can go too. The cool part is, I used to live in France, but I was too young to remember, so I'll get to see Lyon. I'll definitely take some nice black and white pictures of the architecture there. Anyway, I'm really excited and I'm leaving Thursday next week.
In other news, I finally got my skateboard yesterday after two weeks of waiting patiently, so I'll host some pictures when I get around to it. Hopefully some video too.
It's official, yesterday I created my own RSS feed, not really for anyone's benefit, just to experiment with it. Not really looking for any subscribers, just seeing what it can do.
Also, I'm not really sure if I can use this feature, but I installed a CSS Tooltip into my stylesheet, and hopefully, I'll update some old stuff to use this feature.
As you may or may not know, I am not really a big fan of movies, and there's only a couple that I actually like, but "The Departed" is one of the best I've seen yet.
If you haven't already seen the trailer, It's about two officers on the Boston Police Force who are both connected to the Irish Mafia. It is kind of like the Bourne Identity with more violence, which may be seen as good or bad, depending on who you talk to, but the plot is really complex and interesting. See it if you can.
Not much of a deal, but I noticed it was very hard to view the photos in my 'photos' section of the site if your browser didnt automatically resize them for you, so I scaled them down for your viewing pleasure.
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been kinda busy with school. But anyway, I've been reading about the new Zelda game and it's really getting me excited. It's coming out for the Nintendo Wii, and also for the Gamecube.
So apparently in this installment, you start out as a wolf in a jail cell or something, but you later turn back into your old self. Sounds a little like Majora's Mask to me, but whatever. The combat is supposed to be improved, now being able to fight on your horse, and it is said to take one-hundred hours to beat. It's coming out on November 19th, but I cant play it until christmas. That'll be a long wait. I guess I know what I'm doing winter break.
Here's the Wikipedia article I got all my info from.
Yeah, I've been trying to do tricks on my longboard for like a month now, and I've actually gotten good at it, but too bad a longboard isn't meant to trick on, so I've invested in a regular board, specifically this one.
I checked all the local skate shops, but they had bad designs and no selection, so as usual, I turned to online shopping.
The deck is an element, and I really like the design alot and the trucks and bearings are acceptable. It comes pre-assembled and with a hardware set. so yeah, thats what I'm getting.
Now originally, I was not against the new DAP that was going to be sold by Microsoft, and I was excited by the thought of sharing music with others, even though I was and still am a fan of the iPod. However, after I heard how they skipped out on the video playback, and the songs shared are wrapped in a Microsoft DRM, I realized how much it was gonna blow.
And this article doesn?t help boost the Zune either. It goes into detail how bad Microsoft?s new product is, and why.
Title is self explanitory, I guess. Yahoo! plans to beam a time capsule, in laser form, up into the sky from a famous mexican pyramid in hopes to contact extraterrestrial life. I don't know what a laser beam with data encoded in it will be of any use to an alien besides making it blind. Article here, and here's the link to the Yahoo! time capsule page, where you can submit your own stuff to the aliens.
Also, at my friend Dan's request, I downloaded a shitload of music by RUSH, that's 18 albums, and I listened to the first four and I like it alot.
This new threadless shirt is awesome. It's a picture of the alamo, and it has Pee-wee's bike in the 'basement' of it. Kind of an inside joke, if you never saw Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
Yeah, Columbus Day sure is a stupid holiday. I must've been the only school district that didn't have off today. Ah well, I got a progress report in English, got a 91. I got my binder back from my History binder check, and got a 100, and a little gold star too!
At least something good came out of today.
Yeah, there's this guy, oddly enough named Daniel Townsend, and was born on May 13th, and I was born on May 15th. Weird, huh? He's a solo singer/songwriter, and has some really good stuff with alot of potential. He really looks like tom cruise, I mean he really does.
found out about him by 'googling' my own name, and his site came up. He has released a couple of CD's and his latest is availible on Indie-CDs.com, but you can get full mp3's from his 'listen' page.
OK, so I'm not sure if any of you out there had a Windows 98 Computer, but if you did, I'm sure you loved playing the awesome games that came with it, like Jeezball, Rodent's Revenge, and maybe even Klotski, but out of all the games, my personal favorite had to be by far SkiFree.Maybe it's because I ski, or maybe its because of that crazy abominable snowman guy who comes and eats you, but I just cant get over how awesome this game is, so I did a google search and found it here! Just thought I'd share in case anyone out there wants this, but forgot about it.
Yes, at last, the master has released a new CD. I really like it alot, although it doesn't wow me as much as his previous CD's, its still really friggin' awesome. I really like everything I've heard so far, except for Motorcade, it sounds too weird for me.
Ah well, it is a great CD, and I haven't watched any of the music videos yet, but I'm sure they're good too. And as weird as ever, Beck didn't include an album cover, just a piece of graph-like paper and a bunch of stickers. I put the stickers on my stuff instead of the album cover, because they were really awesome and too good to waste.
Milburn, a band who has the same style as the Arctic Monkeys, is coming out with their first LP on October 9th, and I couldn't be more excited!
They have some demo stuff on their website, and it sounds promising. They are 'mates' with the arctic monkeys, and that probably influenced their style. Anyway, pick it up if you can.
That's right folks, mrdantownsend 3.0 is up and running! I overhauled my entire website out of pure boredom, and I personally think that it has a much nicer feel to it than mrdantownsend 2.0. So, I hope you enjoy looking at my stuff. I would recommend that you clear your cache, or reload before viewing this page.
