[[ Name ]]

How well does the name 'Mara' really fit our Mara's personality? Let's see what kabalarians.com had to say about it! [red comments like this are my own]

There are also some more simple meanings for Mara's name, all put together nicely by Wookiepedia.

In Hebrew, Mara means "bitter," and alternately "myrrh" or "fragrance", while Jade of course is another word for "woman". In the Biblical tradition, Ruth's beleaguered mother, Naomi, declared that "Mara" would be a better name, for she had been treated "bitterly" by fate. However, perhaps like Mara Jade, Naomi's fortunes later improved. The name may also have been inspired by "Kama-Mara", the Buddhist deity of love and death. In Czech, "Mara" means cherry blossom.
