Natural Parenting

What exactly is natural parenting (NP)? Basically, it's the parenting style that has come to be known as attachment parenting, but without the label. Additionally, NP means parenting, and living, in harmony with our natural environment and according to our inctincts. It involves responding to our children's needs as they arise in the present moment, respecting our children as individuals with their own interests, and avoiding control and coercion in our interactions with others.

I trust my instincts supported by research in the fields of cross-cultural child-rearing practices (ethnopediatrics), evolutionary biology, and other areas in choosing which approaches and practices to promote. My interests include tribal, village-style communities, hunter-gatherer-style nutrition, freebirth and homebirth, attachment parenting (babywearing, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, etc.) and continuum concept approaches to child-rearing, positive discipline, diaperless elimination communication (natural infant hygiene), and unschooling.
