RONALD J. WALKS

Ron was born near Wimbledon, ND, the son of Floyd R. and Lorraine (McDaniel) Walks. He grew up and attended school in the Wimbledon area. He worked for various farmers during his school years and for a short time he went to West Fargo and worked in the Fargo Stock Yards. Ron enlisted in the US Army on October 11th, 1958 and spent four years overseas. Upon his return he moved to Leeds, SD and worked in the gold mines as a demolition expert setting the dynamite blasts. He learned his trade in the service where he was in a demolition unit. In 1966 Ron married Linda Beyer. They moved to Anaconda, MT where he worked in the smeltering plant at the Anaconda Coop from 1966 until returning to ND in 1968. He then went to work for the Civil Service at the State Bureau of Mines in Grand Forks, ND. He later again entered the Army on June 30th, 1969 where he served in the Vietnam conflict until his honorable discharge on June 29th, 1972. Ron was a member of the National Guard for 22 years. On October 309th, 1981 Ron married Betty J. Harter in Aberdeen, SD. Ron worked at the North Dakota State Hospital in the heating plant for 26 years. Ron is survived by his wife, one son, two grandchildren, eight step-children, sixteen step-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 1st, 2007 in Jamestown, ND. A memorial services was held at the NDVH on Monday, November 5th.
