This website is created to serve as a meeting place of students, former and current, of National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (formerly, Regional Research Laboratory) Thiruvananthapuram. NIIST is a constituent laboratory of CSIR, India engaged in interdisciplinary research with interest in Agroprocessing, Chemical Sciences, Materials and Minerals, Biotechnology and Process Engineering and Environmental Technology. Currently about 200 students are doing research work here at the laboratory.(Click for complete list of students) Activities of students and various issues regarding students are discussed here. Past Events	NIIST Students Association organized a One day Medical Camp on 29-04-09 (Wednesday) at NIIST Trivandrum. NIIST Students Association organized a Talk on "Introduction to Free Software for Scientific Computing" on 3.05.2008. Mr. Sasi Kumar, Free Software Foundation of India (Former Scientist at the Centre for Earth Science Studies) delivered the lecture. See Photos NIIST-SA organized a cancer awareness programe " CANCER CARE FOR LIFE - AWARE ! INSURE! and CARE!" on 14th March 2008. Dr. C.V. Prasanth, Medical Officer, Dept of Palliative care, Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram lead the programe.The association handed over a cheque of Rs 1.25 lakh to Dr. C.V. Prasanth as the Cancer Care for Life scheme memberships. See Photos The General Body meeting of NIIST-SA was held on February 2008. The Executive committee for the year 2008 was elected in the meeting. Students Day Celebration of the year 2007, 'Radiance07' was celebrated on December 10th, 2007 . Mr. Soorya Krishnamoorthy, organiser of the 'Soorya Festival' was the chief guest. See Photos In connection with Radiance07, Students Association conducted an Art and Literary competitions in poetry, story writing, cartoon, poster designing and photography. Dr. Jothydev Kesavadev , eminent diabetologist, Jothydev's Diabetes and Research Centre gave a lecture on "Diabetes the great killer - Unravelling the mysteries" at the Bhatnagar Auditorium, on 18 October, 2007. NIIST-SA conducted a talk on "Stress Management" by Dr. Girish K., Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Centre, Thiruvananthapuram on 7th August, 2007. NIIST Students Association organized a workshop on “ Visualization Techniques and Molecular Modeling – A hands-on experience ” by Dr. Suresh C.H ., Scientist, Computational Modeling and Simulation on 21 st July 2007 at CMS Laboratory.
