Hi ya'll! |
|
|
Sorry bout not updating lately, my internet's been down, but i'm back
up again! I don't seem to be as devoted to computer games as i used to
be, i've considered selling my DS and my gamecube everyday, but then i
thought of all the hours of enjoyment i've had before, but i've changed
alot, and i've been giving my guitars alot more attention lately, but
anyway, back to computer games! I've got good news and bad news, i
shall tell the bad then the good.
The bad news - Resident evil 5 (i knew there would be somethin bout it
soon!) may not be on the revolution, as capcom announced it for the PS3
and the Xbox360, but not the revolution. There could still be hope, as
the revolution controller hasn't been shown yet, so it could be on the
revolution yet!
The good news - New Zelda twilight princess pics! Here you go;

Back to me considering leaving, i will notify you all about a week
before i leave if i do leave, and if i do leave, i will make sure to
still post news every so often. If i do leave, i will hold a competiton
to see who will replace me, ok. See ya'll later!

7/20 - Slowin' up |
|
|
Kammo -
Yep, lack of updates recently. And probably won't be many for a while. Or at least the pace of this site will slow a little. Maybe Vox-Pop can get off his ass and make a new blog that's easier to update for me. Fat ass. xP
I am just too lazy, that's really all it is.
I have also been busy reading my Naruto. I bought Vol. 6 at Barnes and Noble the other day. It's the only manga I have ever really enjoyed. And it isn't just like "Astro Boy," which I will probably only be interested in for a couple weeks. I plan to buy all the volumes. Got 2-5 in Japanese, 6 in 'Merican. Yep.
Anyway...I signed up for a Naruto RP forum. And it is great. Link. I am Kiyoshi, in case you want to read my excellent posts. Ha, actually they probably suck. Oh well.
Forko, I expect you to post twice as much to make up for me. I will just drop some links once in a while. Just wanted to get the site going some.
Until next time.

7/15 - Doukutsu Monogatari, Mechs, and my favorite web comic. |
|
|
Kammo -
Nothing much today. I dowloaded Doukutsu Monogatari, a sidescroller with many RPG elements. It is supposedly pretty long with good replay value. This one might be a keeper.
So far I am really enjoying it. A lot. You're a soldier from "the surface" or something, and at first you start out near a village of Migimas, rabbit-like creatures. Someone they call "the doctor" has been sending his henchmen [a witch and a breifcase with eyes] to the village to abduct the Migimas, feeding them special flowers which cause them to become monsters. Hm. Something about destroying humans or something.
The game reminded me especially of Metroid. Especially the boss fights. There can be many projectiles and things to dodge during the battles, but the game runs smoothly. And the sprites and everything look and move great. You start with a standard pistol, and get more firearms with different attributes like the rocket launcher. Whenever you are hit, not only do you lose a set amount of HP, represented by a gauge as well as a ratio, but you lose what seems to be like experience. When you kill an enemy, it may either drop ammo, health, or experience. Once you get enough EXP, your weapon levels up and changes, usually for the better. But you may also level down, of course, so watch out. There are many item-fetching quests, too, and the game does a good job of incorporating these RPG elements into a Metroid-style game.
I like the story and everything, and is a really refreshing and original experience. I couldn't find Astro Boy: Omega Factor, but maybe this can hold me over. This is probably my favorite indie yet. Link: Cave Story [English title] You'll have to download the translater patch or whatever, too.
Edits: I forgot to mention the audio, which is great. I love it. I also got Astro Boy just a few hours ago, and it's spectacular. Expect a review sometime relatively soon. Maybe.
I believe CoffeeMan from 4crIRC brought my attention to this: Real-life mech. Awesome. I want one.
I have been reading the White Ninja comics lately. I love them so much. The art style alone is enough to laugh at.

Tim-E from 4crIRC recently uploaded some of my favorite Katamari Damacy songs for me to download. How nice of him. ^.^

I'm singing because of this. Coolest thing I have seen all day. Maybe all week. Ness and his friends imitating Chris Kattan and Will Ferrel. Credit: GamemasterX from 4crIRC.
I have been playing Soldat lately. Like 2D halo. See indies page.
Let me state my obsession, or infatuation, rather with Ashley from Another Code. I'll let this avatar I made do the talkin':

You can tell a lot of work went into that avatar. Ha.
And don't get me started on that boxart with her showing off midriff...mm...
I am now tempted to purchase said game...
Let me remind everyone to register for Camp Hyrule during July 26-28. I'll be there.

7/10 - Back with a chainsaw and some indie games |
|
|
Kammo -
I'm back from my vacation. Yes, it was fun. We stayed in a large 20-person house with beach access via boardwalk or lake-kayaking and a swimming pool with "whirlpool" with changing neon underwater lights [whew...]. I played my cousin's PS2 a bit, as well as RE4. I brought my N64, planning to play some Majora and Goemon's Great Adventure...but I was too excited about RE4. Almost to Disc 2! Just gotta rent it a couple more times! Overall, I give the vacation a 9.0 out of 10. xP
Speaking of RE4, it's coming to the PS2. Ew. With an even cooler looking chainsaw controller around October. I found an article about it on IGN.
+ The Chainsaw Controller is very similar to the GameCube variant though it has a few new features of its own. A newly added ripcord starts up the controller and emits the roar of a chainsaw when pulled.
No fair.
+ The PlayStation 2 version of the Chainsaw Controller also touts an interactive "stance" feature that changes the position of Leon's weapon in-game depending upon how the user holds the controller. If the player holds the controller up, Leon will do the same. Likewise, moving the Chainsaw Controller to a horizontal position will cause Leon to lower his weapon in-game.
They don't mean gyro technology, of course, right? I must be mistaken and confused.
I played Dan! Da! Dan! and enjoyed it. Made by the Every Extend people. But more of a shooter/puzzler. Fun. Too lazy to upload a screen. Heh. Look at them here: http://nagoya.cool.ne.jp/o_mega/product/ddd.html.
The first link is a direct download. If anyone else is brave enough to try out the other games on the page, leave a comment on the forums about them. I tried to download Marunage, but couldn't find the link.
Oh, yeah, one more thing. Thanks to 4cr, I found out about a team recreating Metroid Prime in 2D. I haven't played the original, but I might still try this 2D version out. It's still in the works, but there are a couple of tiny demos and some beta screens. Nothing great. Yet.
I get pretty much all of my indie games from 4cr...what a great site. Maybe I should just start an indie games page. Maybe on my next blog. [coming soon, perhaps!] Moe2i6 is our 4th member to the forums! Although unofficially. Perhaps he can help us get a new version of NBible running. I would love him. ^.-

No news again, it seems that since i started this site there has been a
serious shortage of game related news. The only thing i can say really
is that i bought resident evil 4 after reading Kammo's review and i can
tell you it's amazing. I have a review coming soon, but i don't have
any time to do it now. See yall later

7/2 midnight - Every Extend and New staff |
|
|
Kammo -
I am leaving in about 8 hours, so I guess I better get some sleep, but I wanted to drop off one more link for ya: Every Extend
Image loadin':

It's a really fun indie game, kinda like a top-down shooter, but...not. You drop these "UCHU" bombs on these "UCHU" enemies. The game, or at least the manual, uses the word "UCHU" a lot. I think it means "VERY VERY LARGE." Or "INFINITY!"
[read the Engrish manual]
The point is to time your explosions to where it makes a combo of explosions, "involving the enemies." It's really fun, and has two different modes, Light and Heavy, each with its own level. The audio is great, techno with wierd little words thrown in here and there and at successful combos. It's not about level-progressing or anything, but instead a high score game. Well, I am going to go play it now. G'night.
Oh yeah, new staff member. He should introduce himself soon. ^.^

I will be leaving for Florida tomorrow. Gone for a week. Forko, make sure you keep up with all the pointless updates for me! ^.^

It's Dr. Beach!
I'll leave you with a link I have been at recently: Paranoia Agent Soundtrack Samples

I have been in love with this show recently, particularly the music. Check out the first track, Dream Island Obsessional Park. It's the opening theme for the anime. It's a hilarious show.

6/30 11:18:04 PM - Dragon Warrior fan game |
|
|
Kammo -
In the 4cr IRC chat, I met some dude named [krypt_].
<krypt_> it's a fan version of dragon warrior <krypt_> called dragon warrior: the banishment wars <krypt_> developed with vb and directx
He said his team was working on Dragon Warrior: The Banishment Wars. The art looks a little generic, but very fitting to the NESish style of the game. I really like the music, too. I try to stay away from downloads [sans lumines pc] but this looks like a fun game to try out when completed.

Here's the link to the part of the site that is working: DW: BW
Maybe once I found out that the rest is up, I will alert you.
I made it to level 4 in Lumines! The colors of the blocks go back to the original orange and white, but level 3 looks neat:

Play it!

6/30 - Lumines@PC + Halo 2 with old guys = Damn fun |
|
|
Kammo -
I
recently found a "remake" [clone] of Lumines available for download. I
haven't played the PSP original, nor plan to, but this PC version is
addicting, and I am loving it to death. Wait for the pics to load:

The first picture is me on level 2, and
the second is me vs. the PC. The game offers a good challenge. I can't
really give any technical specs or anything on the file, but here it
is, just for you: lumines win32
I definitely recommend it. I had
to install Win RAR to play it, though. Those pics are the actual size,
too, so it is a fairly small window. Have fun! 9/10!
I also played Halo 2 recently with a
friend. Okay, he's like 30 something, but he's my martial
arts instructor. I played against him and some other dude and a
couple of other old nerds. Not all at once, of course, but I did get
double-teamed by them, and I actually didn't do too badly. Considering
they play all the time, I have never played, I have never touched an
XBOX controller, I didn't know what to do, I didn't know the controls,
my instructor didn't tell me, etc, etc. I even beat one guy, making
good use of grenades and dual-wielding needlers and jumping all around.
It was so fun, my instructor even cancelled class just so we could
play. Woo, good times.
All this PSP/XBOX playing...I am worried about my allegiance to Nintendo...nah, I'm good. ^.-

Wow this is so offichal!
I figured I should try my hand at making an ad, it seems like the "cool" thing to do now-a-days.
Give it a rest, seriously. Check 4cr if you want to see the others.
Here's a link for that damn video: http://www.nintendoon.com/
My buddy Vox-Pop / Pirate-King wrote up some summaries of the first couple episodes of Paranoia Agent, as well as one for FLCL Episode 2. Or maybe he just got them from somewhere else...I dunno.
Also, while I am thinkin' about it, not going to have as many images on the site, due to Freeweb's image limit...grr...

6/28 midnight - Bored as hell |
|
|
Kammo -
So I was on the Age of Empires II MSN Gaming Zone server thing, trying to annoy some noobish people. Here's something like what I said.
1 - Mr. Jackson, sir! Run!
2 - Why, pray tell?
1 - It's a witch, sir!
2 - A witch, you say?
1 - Yes, sir! He was at the bell tower when I saw him!
2 - Oh, really? I was at the bell tower a few moments ago, Dickens!
1 - Why, sir, didn't you see him?
2 - Er...Yes, with my own two eyes!
1 - But you only have one eye, sir!
2 - What? Why, that's proposterous! I have two perfectly good eyes!
1 - Then...what's that eyepatch for?
2 - What eyepatch? You know I am racially biased against visual handicaps!
1 - Sir, that doesn't make any sense!
2 - Of course it does!
1 - But...I thought you only had one eye--
2 - I have a perfectly good stash of illegal drugs behind this eyepatch!
1 - What...?
2 - Er...Gotta go, witch coming!
Since when are witches male?
...
I need sleep...

6/27 - Kirby: CC and technical difficulties |
|
|
Kammo -
I've been playing Kirby: Canvas Curse, and it is great. Not only is the gameplay innovative and fun, but it has plenty of replay value and interesting art styles. I loved the music, and after unlocking the classic songs from past Kirby games in the sound test, I realized that much of the music in Kirby: CC is remixes of the classics. Like in Pokemon Emerald. I hadn't played the series in a while, and was thrilled when I heard all these "remixes" of familiar catchy tunes.
I am thinking about leaving NBible, as the service just has too many restrictions. I may start by own blog, but not for now.
The screens on the RE4 review are out of whack because of image uploading problems. Oh well, I am sure you have seen plenty of screens elsewhere. Heh.

6/27 - Zelda DS and other news |
|
|
Eiji Aonuma confirmed in an interview with game informer (never heard of them myself) that zelda DS will NOT be four swords. He also said that it will use the touch screen alot, like moving Link around.
I also want to say that that Richard Whiteley from countdown has died after having heart surgery. Countdown will be running till the end of the week and then they will have to find a new presentor. Richard, you will be missed by millions who have watched countdown, and even those who have not.
Remember to e-mail me with any questions or suggestions. The questions can be game related or non-game related and as personal as you like, although no questions about where i live, cause you ain't getting any answers to that. Bye everyone, be back tomorrow with game related and non-game related news. By the way, keep an eye on the reviews section as i will be doing a review of the anime series, Elfen Lied and maybe some others. If you want me to review any, send an e-mail to the normal adress, but don't e-mail kammo as i don't know if he wants to do anime reviews, i will ask him later.

I was watching Cinematech this morning (okay, it was 1:00), and a video for Zero Wing came on. It was hilarious. I know it's old, but I have just now seen it.

Captain: It's you!! Cats: How are you gentlemen!! Cats: All your base are belong to us Cats: You are on the way to destruction

6/26 - Old NP, Goemon, Taiko Drums |
|
|
Kammo -
I was going through the attic the other day and found some old posters from Nintendo Power for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Metroid II: Return of Samus. I thought that was pretty neat, since they are quite old, and I hung them up in my room. Sorry, no pictures, though.
I checked a message board from some Goemon Yahoo! group, and found this:
This may sound odd but here it is:
*The official Mexico´s and latin american magazine said that it will be avalible in this year (may be in Xmas) or in the 2006
*I GOT A REPLY FORM KONAMI!!!! They said: Thanks for contacting konami, We are analyzing the titles that you ask, and may be they will be avalible, for the systems you ask, so please stay turned for more Information soon.
*Nintendo power annunced this game like MYSTICAL NINJA: THE NEXT ADVENTURE FOR DS.
May be you may think I´m a lier, but It is rare that konami gave me a reply, but as I can say Goemon will be in America, because Nintendo is Asking to the company to develop games.
Whoa, atrocious spelling errors. Pretty sure it is all fake.
I have some impressions of Taiko Drum Master for the PS2 under the reviews section. I know, it's not Nintendo. But it was fun.

6/24 - Goemon DS, AoE II, and Flickr |
|
|
Kammo -
I have heard that Goemon DS may be released in America by the end of the year. Some idiot probably made it up, but I am hoping...

I also recently installed Age of Empires II: Age of Kings on my computer. So if anybody out there has it and wants to play online sometime, leave a message on the board or email me.
I was watching "Attack of the Show" on G4TV the other day. I don't really like G4 except for a few shows, and AOTS features some neat sites. They featured a site called Flickr. You can search for stuff, and it shows you stuff. I was interested in Spell with Flickr. You search for a word, and it...well, let me show you. I searched for Nintendo:

It gives you random images of all of the letters, and you can click each letter to change it. Pretty pointless, but fun.
