WelcomeHi there! I'm ELI from Tastes Like Newsprint Distribution and I am the organizer of the first ever Providence Zine Fest. This has been a long time in coming, but we need your help to make this the best it can be! DateThe fest will be from 11-5 on Saturday, April 24th. It is a week after the New Jersey Zine Fest and Boston Skillshare 2004 so traveling zinesters will have their tours cut out for them if they want to stop by.
Venue/LocationWell, obviously it will be in Providence. More specifically, it will be at AS220, at 115 Empire Street.

Improvements to Make:
Things to Stay the Same: "Good start. Could be better. Sweet that there was no charge for participants or zinesters. A pot luck supper/picnic after the event woulda been fun...Thanks for putting this together!" - REB (www.fanorama.tk) "I had fun at the zinefest...Thanks again for organizing this...really I'm psyched that you organized the zinefest, and really, had a lot of fun." - Jacob (www.fujichia.com) "It wasn't what I expected, never have been to a zine fest before I had no clue what to expect. My first impression was it was just vendors selling their wares, and I was expecting more workshops perhaps in the upstairs or downstairs studio spaces. I liked being able to meet alot of people and see what other people are doing." - Dan (www.piratecore.com) "...Rick and I really enjoyed the fest, thanks a lot for organizing this! It was great to have something like this happen right in Providence, AS220 is a great host, having the tables be free is awesome, having it be a short day is really nice too, expecting customers at 11:00 is more realistic than a lot of these types of events that open at 10:00. I liked the all around casualness of it. However...it'd also be great to see it really expand!" - Ariel (www.arielbordeaux.com) "First off, you did a FABULOUS job of organising the Zinefest. I was impressed by the entire thing, but the idea you had to DO it in the first place was the most important. Keep those great ideas coming! Many thanks!" - Sue (www.zones6X.com) "I was lucky to have my day off coincide with the Providence zine fest, although it was very small in comparison to Boston's zine fest a few years back at MassArt, (I didnt have any time to see the Boston zine fest, so it doesnt matter that much) I was happy to see the zines and managed to trade one of my own zines I made in college with a few people...I would love to participate in the zine fest next year if only I could get the ball rolling..." - Aaron "Overall, I think the fest was great, and I had an awesome time!" - Randie (www.mediawhorezine.com) "I had a great time. I had never been to AS220 before, and I really liked the space...There wasn't much structure to the event, but because the space was small, and all the exhibitors were close to each other, there wasn't much need for structure...I, for one, was happy that there wasn't live music...We shouldn't be too surprised, by the way, by the size of the event. It was very successful for a first one, and as I said, I had a great time. If you decide to do more, there will be a snowball effect and more and more people (exhibitors and visitors) will come. Thanks, Eli, for putting it on. It's a ton of responsibility and little reward for the organizer, but it was very rewarding and fun for me!" - -Jef Taylor (The Urban Pantheist + Urban Nature Walk, www.livejournal.com/users/urbpan) "I thought it was a really good inaugural outing and I enjoyed it. To make things even better, I made more in sales at this event than I did at the 1st Philly Zine Fest last summer!" - Sam (www.tentcitycomics.com) "I loved it. I thought it went great. It was awesome all around!" - Paul (Praise to All, Tea Brigade)
