Basic Installation of Dapper Drake:
Advantages of Dapper
Great installation, quick and straight foward.
You can get dapper straight from ubuntu for FREE! shipit.ubuntu.com
Installing is straightforward: pop in the CD and answer the 5 quick questions (less then 2 mintues).
Post-Install modifications/tweaks: I had to do the following:
The dreaded Broadcom 4318 54g AirForce was the main problem. Still cannot figure out the sound problems. The crappy Broadcom 4318 chip; yes, you can get it to work, but it will save you time and trouble to just buy a Prism based Linksys PCMCIA card. I've encounterd times that BCM4418 will not connect to a network, but a prism based card I just slipped in (works with kernel instantly) will connect simply.
More Specific Information. Specific stuff such as:
HD usage: Dapper Drake installs on a 2GB HD just fine (full graphical install). Of course, it won't leave you a lot of elbow room.
