Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
US Title: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
UK Title: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Release Date: September 1998
Pages: 309
Chapters: 17
Summary: Harry Potter always believed himself to be an orphan due to a car accident that claimed both his parents‘ lives. At age 11 Harry discovers that his parents were actually wizards and were murdered by an evil wizard called Lord Voldemort. To his amazement, Harry is also a wizard and has been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He meets other witches and wizards and make friends, while uncovering Lord Voldemort's evil scheme to come back into power.
Special Notes: The American version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was changed to the Sorcerer’s Stone, upon the belief that American children would not have heard the story of the "Philosopher’s Stone". This being true in most cases, it should be mentioned that American children have also not heard of any story about a "Sorcerer’s Stone", which therefore makes the change pointless.
