Gordon M. Elliott RM2C - 4th Beach Bat. - Platoon C9

This site was made by Gordon Elliott's grandson in hopes to connect with people that served in the 4th Beach Bat. to learn more about what he went through and better yet, if anyone remembers him in Platoon C9. Gordon was a radioman in the Navy. He trained in North Africa for the invasions of red beach Gela, blue beach Salerno and yellow beach southern France near St Maxeen. Gordon passed away on March 23, 2006. Not many storied were relayed to family members over all the years after the war ended but when he did mention anything it was mostly surrounding the invasion of Gela, Sicily known as Operation Husky. This site is dedicated to him and the men that served next to him that are either still alive today or passed during the conflict. Each beach had different landing zone represented by a color. Red for Gela, Blue for Salerno and Yellow for Southern France. I dont know what the grey color represents...?

During the invasion of Sicily on Gela beach, a bunch of American c47s were accidently identified as German bombers and were shot down. A dazed and upset surivor of the incident gave this knife to my grandfather.

Navy flashlight. The initials "HK" are carved into the side of the flashlight. HK is short for Harry Krumpolz. Krumpolz served in the 4th bbn C9 with my grandpa. I have always wondered if Krumpolz has my grandfathers flashlight

I dont know too much about this bracelet. My grandfather got it while in Italy. Some of the places on the bracelet he had been too. Some he hadn't.
