valentine is done, here but now they're gone RULES.It is absolutely necessary for you to have read Stephen King's The Stand. Just having seen the movie will not cut it. Yes, I know, the book is well over 700 pages long (I think the uncut version is about 900+ pages). However, aside from it being an absolutely awesome book, you get to know the characters and the world much better than you do by watching the movie. I also recommend that if it's been a while, you at least watch the movie to refresh your memory. I'll definitely be rereading the book and keeping it handy for reference, so it might be a good idea to do the same. No killing, maiming, or controlling another player's character without his or her permission. Not only will this most likely get you taken right out of the game, but it's disrespectful and stupid. If your character is going to hit John's character, ask John first or at least give John's guy time to respond to Becky curled her hand into a fist and drew it back, meaning to give Sean a black eye. You must be active. That means at least one post a week, for both character journals and the IC community. If you will not be able to post, you must post to the OOC community letting everyone know how long you will be away. Also, try not to leave threads unfinished when going on hiatus. Each player may have up to two characters. This may change, but for now we ask that you please only apply for two at most, only one of which can be canon. This is to make sure that canon characters are spread as equally as possible between players, especially since at the end of the book there aren't too many canons left. Also, please remember that every new character you wish to play must first be approved by a moderator via application. All players must be at least 18 years of age. There is likely to be violent and sexual content in this game, and it also doesn't hurt to add that players 18+ tend to be more mature. Unnecessary amounts of sex will NOT be tolerated. If, in play, it happens to happen, you must:       + lock the thread to the community (friends-only post)       + place it behind an lj-cut with a warning to the rest of the community Use proper grammar and spelling. There is nothing more frustrating and annoying than roleplaying with someone who won't take the few seconds to use a spell check, start sentences with a capital letter and end them with a period, or who tYpEs LiKe ThIs. No, I'm not a Grammar Nazi and I won't red-pen all of your posts, but I will get very pissy if I run into these things repeatedly. Most importantly, have fun! POSTING GUIDELINES. We will be using a timestamp in After the Stand. In the subject line, please use the following format: Who / When / Where / invite / status Who is which characters are involved in the post. If it is a solo or open post, just your character's name is fine. Once other characters join the open post, just add their names. If you are posting a JP, list all characters participating. Easy. When is the date and time the post is occuring, in gametime. This is necessary because the game will be taking place throughout the United States. Where is where the action is taking place. Please use city, state format. If it is taking place outside or nearby a city, say so. This is also necessary because the U.S. is a big place. invite Use this to let everyone know whether the post is open or closed. By declaring the post open, you are inviting any character to join. If the post is a solo or JP, stick in closed. If you would like the post to be open but want someone specific to jump in, you would stick in open, tag Rob, or if you just want someone specific you would stick in tag Kate. status Use this to let the rest of the community know whether the thread is complete or active. For example, my post would go something like this: Claudio / Thursday August 10th, 6:13p / outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada / open / active It's a lot to remember, but it's easy getting used to. If you have any questions, email me at afterthestand.mod@gmail.com and I will be happy to help you out. Before I let you go and fill out your application, I want to tell you about tags. When you are writing your post, please remember to tag it with the characters participating and the location. For example, my post would be tagged claudio, las vegas, nevada All right, I think I've covered all of it. Check back frequently for new or amended rules, etcetera. I will usually make an OOC post about things like this anyway, but I'm only human and sometimes forget. I should also make it very clear that VIOLATIONS OF RULES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and can and will result in a suspension or ban, depending on severity. No, I'm not a tyrant, but I will do everything I can to make this game a fun one to play. Now go check out the characters page to see which canon characters are available and fill out an application.
