ARBA # ________
Talisien Lionheads is a small rabbitry located in Ottawa Ontario Canada. We currently breed only lionheads. Our goal is to breed rabbits that represent the breed in type, mane, and overall appearance. We strive for large manes that stay full in senior animals, correct body type, and friendly personality. All of our Lionheads come from excellent breeding lines such as Cimmaron, Legendary, DJ's and Bunny Hutch.
Our rabbits are handled daily and are first and foremost our pets! Our rabbitry is cleaned daily, and kept in top condition. I kept very detailed records on each rabbit that comes into our home.
The lionhead is a fairly new breed in North America and is not not fully recongized by ARBA. Although most shows will accept entries for exhibition only. Lionheads change in appearance quite drastically as they grow. Sprouting fuzz all over the body only to shed most of it out leaving manes and often a little flank wool.
All my bunnies will be tattooed before they leave my home. All of my rabbits are double maned and fully pedigreed (unless otherwise indicated). I wean my kits at approximately week six, and they will become available to leave for their new homes at week eight. I like to make sure everyone is eating well, happy and healthy before sending them off. I do consider trades, and discounts are available on purchases of three or more rabbits. I do maintain a no obligation waiting list so please let me know if there is something particular you are looking for.
COD and AOV:
With this project our goal is to produce good quality rabbits in COD (certificate of development) and AOV (all other varieties) colours. Eventually I would like to start a chocolate program as this colour is difficult to find in the lionhead breed.
BEW PROJECT:
I just love this colour, and would really like to produce an excellent quality rabbit that represents the breed in body type and mane. I have a long way to go on this project, but I love working on it, and enjoy the challenge. Some of the vienna markings you get while working with BEW's are just beautiful.
I am aware that not everyone wants the vienna mark in their herd. I am very upfront about which of my rabbits carry the vienna gene in their ancestry and keep my COD and BEW breeding programs separate and well recorded. The vienna gene is a co-dominant gene and it may show up as a white marked bunny or it may not show up at all. Each of my rabbits have the vienna series of genes marked on their genotype. You will see the following notations, Vvm (vienna marked), Vvc (vienna carrier). This means the rabbit carries the vienna gene but is hiding it, vv refers to a BEW, and VV refers to a rabbit with no vienna influence. Sometimes it is not possible to tell if a bunny is Vvc or VV because both rabbits have the same appearance (i.e. no white markings), if this is the case I will describe the bunny as V_.
Please feel free to browse my website and email me if you have any questions. I do maintain a waitlist/notification list for kits and upcoming litters. I also will consider any requests for specific breedings. I only ask that you take a moment to read through my guarantee and sales policy before purchasing one of my rabbits. All of my bunnies are sold with a full pedigree, unless specified as "pet".
