Tutorial 3

A Greenish-Blue Tint

We'll be going from this to this in about ten steps. I use PSP XI, I'm not sure if it will be the same for earlier versions or Photoshop.

1. Choose your picture, crop it, sharpen it, etc. I chose this picture of Adam Brody.

2.Duplicate your base and go up to Adjust - Hue and Saturation - Colorize. Doesn't matter what the Hue level is, as long as the saturation is at 0. (Should be grey now). Set this layer on Hard Light at 100%.

3. Make a new raster layer and fill it in with a dark purple color, I used #300149. Set it to Lighten at 40%.

4. Make another raster layer and fill this one in with a dark blue, I used #0a0149. Set it to Exclusion at 50%.

5. Go to Layers - New Adjustment Layer - Color Balance. Here are my settings I used:
Midtones: 15, -17, -17
Shadows: -16, 5, 3
Highlights: 2, 0, -29
Make sure the 'Preserve Luminance' is checked.

6. Make another raster layer and fill it in with a green like #82c37b. Set it on Burn at 25%.

7. Go to Layers - New Adjustment Layer - Hue/Saturation/Lightness. Mess with the settings - this is what I used:
Masters: 11
Reds: 10
Cyans: 15
Blues: 19
Whatever I left out is on 0, and these settings are meant for the Saturation level and nothing else.

8. Go back and duplicate your image that's GREY. Drag it to the top and set it on Soft Light at 40%.

9. Make another raster layer and fill it in with another dark blue like #00123e. Set it on Exclusion at 60%.

10. Go back and duplicate your base image (make sure it's in COLOR) and drag it to the top. Set this on Luminance at 45%. And you're done!
