Website Tip's
Here are some tip's that can help improve your website. Some of these might be just my personal preferences, but you can sift through and find any information you want.
- You should have and understandable layout. It makes things a lot better when you can tell how to get from one page to another. It also helps if the layout colors go well together, and aren't so bright that they will blind your visitors.
- You should have at least some content. Who wants to go to a site with a wonderful layout, if it has no content? You should try to make sure your content has nice grammar and spelling; even though it's possible to read horrible grammar or spelling (well, maybe not always) it can make you seem immature as a webmaster or webmistress. While you're not trying to be 100% professional and serious, it improves your website to minimize the typos and mistakes.
- If you have music, you should warn people. I would also advise that you give visitor the option to turn off the music, in case they don't want it.
- It's nice to have some interactive or fun things on your website. It keeps visitors coming back when you have occasional contests, polls, and/or games. If you're creative your games will be much better; I've gone to many websites, which have the classic "Do not click here" pages, or the "Search for the Link" pages. These are all fine and dandy, but visitors can get tired of seeing the same "fun" things on every website.
- You should be nice. To me this isn't very hard, but I know a few webmasters/webmistresses who are rude and yell at people. If you're wondering how someone can "yell" on the Internet, as many people do, then it's a good thing you came here. TYPING IN CAP'S LIKE THIS!!! is how you yell on the Internet. Back to the subject, it makes people sad/angry when you are a mean webmaster/webmisstress. I don't think people should do this one just to improve their website, this is common courtesy.
