Lea Schizas' Ten Writing Tips to Live By:

1- Say to yourself: "I AM a writer!" repeat this as often as necesary and more so when you're feeling down in the dumps. Writers go through spells of uncertainty. All you have to remember is the 'why you write' reason and that original passion will come back.

2- Avoid the naysayers. Do not allow them to take time away from your writing. You are in charge, remember this.

3- Challenge yourself at times. Committing and writing 500 words a day needs a cheer but challenging yourself to write that extra word will help you complete a project that much faster.

4- Have fun! If you begin to feel strangled, sitting by the computer staring at a blank screen, or blocked at a certain passage then step away for a spell. Allow your mind a rest. Perhaps work on something totally different than your present genre project. After some time has passed only then go back.

5- Buy yourself a special writing pen, one that grips firmly in your hand, one that pens smoothly. You'll be surprised what a new pen can do for your writing mood.

6- Don't allow rejections to stymie your mood. Remember, a rejection means you have subbed and that is more than a wannabe writer can say. Be proud you took the step of submitting a project. Now turn around and sub it somewhere else if you believe this project needs no further work.

7- Have someone else critique and edit your project. No matter how good we believe we are, a second pair of eyes will always catch those minute details our own eyes missed.

8- Begin branding yourself as a writer. It is never too early to begin announcing to the whole world that "I AM a writer!"

9- Network with other writers and join writing groups. Exchange links and help one another.

10- Try something out of the box. You might surprise yourself. If you always write mystery, then try your hand at romance. Allow your creativity to expand itself by not forcing it in one closed box. Afterall, you ARE a writer!

The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won’t

ISBN: 193299310X       Star Publish

For only a few cents a day THE FRUGAL BOOK PROMOTER assures your book the best possible start in life. It is full of nitty - gritty how -tos for getting nearly-free publicity. Carolyn Howard-Johnson, an instructor for UCLA’s Writers’ Program, shares her professional experience as well as practical tips gleaned from the successes of her own book campaigns. She tells authors how to do what their publishers can’t or won’t and why authors can often do their own promotion better than a PR professional. It won the Irwin Award, USA Book News' Best Professional Book award and it has been Star Publishing's top selling book for three years running. http://www.amazon.com/Frugal-Book-Promoter-What-Publisher/dp/193299310X/
