MISSION STATEMENT Our purpose in Africa is to identify, uplift and train individuals in African nations as directed and empowered by Holy Spirit. We work across denominational lines and promote the aspect of unity in the body of Christ. We do not purpose to build a denomination or support the concept that one particular stream has all the answers. We have a heart for the orphans , widows and the poor that are so prevalent. We want our eyes and hearts to be opened to recognize God-sent appointments, to allow us to fulfill our part in bringing as many as possible into more of who they can be, in Christ Jesus. Our desire is that they come into an experiential understanding of the love of the Father, the comfort and counsel and power of Holy Spirit and truth and Lordship of Jesus Christ. To maintain integrity and accountability in the use of donated funds is paramount in our hearts. We acknowledge that there are times when food costs, medical costs and unforeseen events affect the intended use of donations. We will remain accountable to demonstrate the redirected need and results. |
Hello! Our names are Will and Pam Phillips. We live in Bangula, Malawi, one of the poorest, hottest areas in Malawi and even the world. The temperatures are at times in the high 40 degrees and even 50 degrees Centigrade range. Pam and I are in our early fifties and expect to be here for the next 50 years with further considerations as to extending our stay after that. Pam has a background as teacher and seamstress and I have a residential building background. J We are at home here in Bangula. The Malawian people are incredible and the temperatures (with a large dose of grace) are livable. Poverty is evident in the extreme at every turn. Aids and malnutrition are in constant competition with malaria for lives lost here. Very basic supplies are available locally in Bangula. Blantyre, Malawi’s second largest city, is accessible from Bangula with a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive over sections of bone-jarring road, depending on rains and truck traffic. Pam had been in Bangula during 2002 and 5 years periodically before that It was June, 2003 when we came to stay in Bangula together. We had one purpose: to love people. When several neighbors made the statement, "There are many orphans here," we set out to discover how many was many? The answer was always, "Lots of orphans." It took a visit to the Public Health Department, which then volunteered their field reps to take on the project of "how many is many?" to find the answer. A list came back of 158 orphans they had identified in two days, some being taken care of by relatives and doing fine - others at risk and needing help. Our home at that time (August 2003) was large, so instructions were left with the Public Health office, "If there are any desperate situations we can help with, let us know." Our home soon became a lively haven for four children who had lost both of their parents, and then their guardian (a grandmother) also died, leaving them homeless. When we discovered that the new house we were to occupy had not been vacated (September 2003), we ended up moving into Red Cross tents for 2 1/2 months while beginning construction. The number of children is now 67 as of Oct 20, 2005. "Love and fun" are the keywords in our home. Laughter, football, rides in the tire swing, singing as a choir, and tickling are primary activities. We have thanks to several generous people new children's quarters. Education for our children is one of our major concerns, and afternoon classes have expanded to a full-blown school as of March 2005. Sewing classes for widows (including marketing assistance), life skills, teaching about business management, feeding programs for the aged and other non-resident orphans, are presently either in the plans or in the beginning stages. We are in the process of beginning a church due to the number of children and staff we have so please pray for us. We would love to have you come and visit if you’re in the neighborhood! There’s a plate of nsima (made from corn flour) and delicious beans waiting for you, as well as songs from the children we are sure you will enjoy! Come on down!

Lower Shire river looking at Mt Malawi Our Support Pam and I are funded personally by Generational Hope Christian Centre in Hobart, Washington. This fellowship supports a large number of missionaries. They are called as a church to support Missionaries and not ministry projects (for which we are amazed and very grateful). Because of this additional funds are not available to support this children’s home and other efforts, we are working with i.e. the widows, the poor, and their educational needs. We are continually humbled by Poppa’s way of supplying our needs. If you would like to join this ministry we have need of additional intercessors, financial and material donations, and /or your physical presence. You are welcome to contact us and to be part of touching these and many more lives.
