"Watch your manner of
speech if you wish to
develop a peaceful state
of mind. Start each day
by affirming peaceful,
contented and happy
attitudes and your days
will tend to be pleasant
and successful."

-- Norman Vincent Peale

"I'd awaken one morning and felt I was too tired to start the day. My head hurt, my neck ached, I had no energy, and I wanted to pull the covers over my head."

This is an all too familiar scenario. People are finding that their lives are strained by the demands of work and family, finding little time to do the things necessary for good health. Instead, we make empty promises to ourselves, putting our health on-hold. On-hold is another term for 'forever'. Eventually, something horrific happens that forces us to do something about our conditions, and quick. No one needs to be faced with bad news when, in fact, we can turn our lives around starting today.

The first thing we confront upon wakening each morning are thoughts requiring immediate attention. For most, that would be relieving ourselves in the bathroom. In route, we reflect on events from the day before, things that need to be done, but mostly, things that weigh heavy on our minds.

If you have faith, know, and understand your God, you'll appreciate what I'm referring to. Upon waking, before dragging you legs out of bed, tell yourself that you have no fear. Fear is our worse enemy. Fear causes us to be the worse that we can be. Fear is a spiritual disease much like a cold. We've all had them and we all know how to get over colds. Smart people do it by being proactive with medication and relaxation. Less intelligent people do nothing, endure uncomfort for a long period of time, allowing the cold to linger till it disappears on its own. Worse, if nothing's done the cold becomes something much worse. I choose to be proactive with conquering fear like I do a cold.

Upon awakening each and every morning, have no fear. Greet the day with a thankful heart, no matter the circumstances. You might not be happy, but you MUST have no fear, and appreciate the reality of the divine strength that is God given, which drives us to succeed. Do this and you'll find a spark of happiness, even under pain.

So just what does it take to live healthy? Eat healthy food, drink clean water, breath fresh air, and get lots of exercise. Then, surround yourself with supportive family and friends, find relief from daily stress, and believe in God. This is the regimen that people who live into their 100's are able to attest to. But most people don't have the pleasure of such luxuries. Our cities are the rest stop for pollutants, water is undrinkable, crime is at an all-time high and morals have been stripped from the fiber of our communities. How then do we live healthy lives?

Moderate and high levels of physical activity will add longevity to our lives. The fact is that people who walk live longer than those who don't. Walking, in particular, burns calories, moves the blood through the body, stimulates the muscles, and stimulates the heart. It aides in weightless. Coupled with a structured diet, walking will almost guarantee a loss of weight. Don't take it from me. Hear it from the professionals. The Benefits of Walking

Eating a sensible breakfast replenishes the body with fuel needed for the day. The pancreas, an organ that sits behind the stomach, regulates and distributes carbs, fats, protein and acid gotten from everything that we consume. It has distributed these important elements to the blood during the night. When you awake, the body is in need of these elements, and the pancreas is ready and waiting to do its job. If we skip breakfast, the pancreas sits back and virtually becomes a couch potato. In the same way, when at last we do eat, the pancreas is tired, slow, and wishes to go to sleep.

So, eat a great breakfast before stepping out into a new day. Walk for 45 minutes or more. Boldly facing the day with divine spirit, no fear, having energized the body with enzymes that create a feeling of euphoria, and supplying the body with the energy needed through the day, makes our body and soul strong.

The travesty would be to ignore the message intended just for you.
The body is the temple of God.
