Kahrain Weyr - and Kahrain Hold - lie on the tip of a peninsula. The ocean is quite near, which is dangerous in hurricane seasons, but otherwise wonderful for those who feel that the lake water just idn't enough. It's only a short flight over - and those who don't have a dragon to ride could even walk, though it would take longer on human legs. Better to ride a runner to get there and back before sunset and still have time to spend there. There is cultivated land close to the Holds, but beyond the Holds, there is jungle, and beaches and just wild land that is fun to hunt in, and easy to get lost within as well. The Weyr itself is not a full circle like many, but a half circle. The Hatching Grounds are in the inner part of the circle, right below the weyrs of most of the queens. Beyond that the Bowl had the pens for the herdbeasts, which take up some room, and the large cool lake - if dragonriders want warm water, they will have to go elsewhere since the Bowl is fed from a stream that travels down from the small mountain range nearby to the east, rising out of the jungle. The rest of the Bowl is partly sand, partly dirt - and thos eplaces with dirt have in many paces been cultivated into gardens. Without thread they don't get tithes often, having to sell services to get food, and having some extra gardens makes them feel a little more secure.
